Windows 10: Checksum values(SHA1) fo WIN 10 Home x64 ISO download from MS

Trying to find the SHA1 value for WIN 10 x64 Home. Used MS site to download using recommended settings. Mounted and checked ISO file with command prompts: get-wiminfo. Version 10.0.14393 x64 Languages en-US. used Hascalc to get SHA-1 value of: 18a044a4bb3341b0f4e2814241997deddfddef43. Does not match any that I can find. Is the correct value attached to the file somewhere. I cannot find the true file name either. My existing version is 14393.693 and is multilanguage. I want to do a clean install as I have a couple issues after the last two cummulative udates. Need to know the ISO is good.

I have windows 10 build 10240 and I want to install the november update. I have tried to download the files form techbench but due my slow internet it's not able to download the file. can i just make a new link from techbench and resume the download?or i
have to re-download the file.Please help!

Also please prove me with the checksum(SHA1 and MD5 ) of Windows 10 1511 Single Language English x64 iso file.

I don't know that you will find the hash for the MCT ISO, The hash for the MSDN ISO is, SHA1: 44064680647EE4C877A6F54739AD82759147C828 en_windows_10_multiple_editions_version_1607_updated_jan_2017_x64_dvd_9714399.iso
It's not Home by the way, unless you downloaded the Home SL ISO. The Windows 10 ISO is multi edition Home and Pro.

So I take it you don't trust that download?

 

I have got Home x64 US as well and its SHA1 is unique too.
I guess, MCT adds something like a signature to each ISO.

 

Not sure that in today's world we should fully trust any download! A year ago I lost the registry from my desktop unit after installing a patch tuesday of 22 updates. It was backed up but was a PIA for a couple of days finding more things like no usb drivers, changed setting, even new profiles for my mail client and firefox, etc. The Win 10 ISO probably is fine but I would like to be able to confirm this. I think MS checks the download as I had one fail at the end of the download 2 years ago and I got an error message saying the file was corrupt. Last night I downloaded the WIN 10 ISO again exactly as 2 days before. Same late night satellite internet free zone internet, same computer, same media creation tool downloaded 2 days ago. Ran dism / get-wiminfo /wimfile*Biggrin:\Sources\install.esd /index:2(for Home and ran index:1 for pro) commands. Both downloads are the same Win 10 x64 multi-language(en-US) 14393 version. Exact same file size in bytes. Completely different SHA1 hashs. Anybody know if the media MS will sell you is kept current. If I cannot verify their download I may buy media if it is current. Probably going to upgrade to Pro. I want gpedit and easier ability to schedule windows update download times to run during my free zone 5 hour late night window. AU has blown my data cap several times when the huge cummulative updates fail to install and continue to download/fail to install. I had to turn it off in sevices as metered connection is bypassed by MS for these new versions.

The SHA1 values change when you use the media creation tool because some of the dates of the files change to reflect the day you downloaded it. The Media Creation Tool does not download a precompiled ISO file. The Media Creation Tool compiles the ISO file from other files that it downloads. File size won't change when the dates change because the date fields are set formats and byte sizes, but checksum calculations will change.

I just ran Media Creation Tool. Here are the partial contents of the files in the mounted ISO file. Look at the modified date of the bottom 3 files. That's why you don't get a consistent SHA1 value:

 

I do understand that too many accept mediocrity. I will not blindly accept anything that Microsoft puts out as OK.Their success with new OS's warrants no less. I do believe that MS has a self check program that checks the download at it's completion but no one has verified this yet in over a week of discussion on 3 forums. If you are correct then every day the ISO downloads have a new checksum. I understand that some files are updated regularly but most only on patch Tuesday. If it is only the date of the file that changes seems like checksums could simply account for this and not greatly alter the resulting hash although I am told that a minor code change can greatly change the resulting hash. I will call MS tech support next week to try and get definitive answers to checksums and to whether the install media they sell is kept current with at least the cummulative updates. The whole point in having an ISO is to have a clean image for repair or clean install of the OS. It would be nice to know in today's climate that Russia, China, or any hacker has not altered our OS downloads.

 

Windows is updated via Windows update, regardless of what your install source is. Downloading via the MCT or buying a DVD makes no difference. They will both be out dated over time. The MCT ISO is actually periodically updated. Every time a new consumer build is released the MCT is updated to that build. The ISO you buy now is frozen as is. You'll be current as soon as you run Windows update after using it but its contents will never change. The DVD you buy now will most likely be the Anniversary Update and identical to what is offered via the MCT. The MCT is free. I don't see the logic in buying a DVD/license for an already activated system?

That was mentioned on the Microsoft Private Yammer group today. One theory is it may be OS dependent. If your running Windows 10 you get redirected, another OS maybe not? Nothing conclusive though, not yet anyway.

 

This may of been the case some years ago but is not so now. Windows ISO's are constantly changing. You can see this by mounting the ISO and running the command dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:H:\sources\install.esd /index:1. With 2 ISO's of the same build, version, and architecture, downloaded 3 weeks apart with MCT. It shows different size, different amount of directories, different amount of files, and different creation dates.

 

The MCT download will be unique to you, as far as checksums hash values go, every time you download it. Some files and directories will have that date and time. The creation date will be the date and time you did the download on. How often the actual download image is updated I have no idea, only Microsoft knows that. My MSDN ISO's though are fixed in time with a verifiable hash code. For the most part they are what I use here at home. For most people though, the MCT is the only option.

 

When it comes to verification, the ISO's at MSDN are the same as Techbench (AFAIK)...

However, the MCT downloads an ESD that has a hash (see products.ini) and as correctly stated the hash of the resulting iso created will differ based on date-time created (I guess we will just have to trust that MCT will only create an iso after checking the ESD hash)
