  1. Computer Automatically Turns On

Has anyone besides me ever experienced their computer turning on automatically after it's been shut down?

    Mine did!

    It's my Desktop PC.

It's an Acer Aspire XC-603G Desktop.

Note: This kind of unnerved me because no one was around it. We had all gone to our rooms and went to bed. Should I be aware of ghosts?

    :)

  2. Computer turns on automatically

Each afternoon/evening I turn my computer off. By the time I come back to it (generally the next day or two, it has already turned itself on. I recall that when I was using Windows 7 (before I changed to Windows 10), there was a setting that allowed for
a computer to turn on automatically at a certain time (ideal for an office worker to have the computer on just before he or she arrived to work. Now I want to disable that and turn it on myself. Any advice?

    Hi Lindsay,

Conflicts with the power settings is one of the possible reasons why your computer automatically turns on. To resolve this, we suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps on this

    thread
that was provided by Sirius_21 and Nyima Yonten. Many community members find their post helpful.

    Computer Automatically Turns On

I lived in a haunted apartment in Cheyenne, WY in 1986 but she (the ghost) never turned anything on. She just would stand near my bedroom doorway and I (and my friend who stayed in the apartment when I was gone) would see her in the middle of the night. When I moved out, the lady whom we hired to clean the apartment felt her presence too.

You probably either have your BIOS/UEFI set to turn on the computer when the power comes back on from a power failure (any interruption of power to the computer's power supply, does not have to be whole house) or have Wake On LAN enabled and something is pinging the computer over the network.

  6. I am a believer in ghosts. I live in Alabama and we had traveled to South Carolina one year to have Thanksgiving with family. On our way back to Alabama, we stopped by and visited Washington, Georgia. There was a big old white antebellum home that sat where we were parked. I took a picture of the house since it was so pretty. But when I turned my camera on and looked at that picture, there was a lady who looked to be dressed from the old days. She was dressed in a long white blue dress with her hair bobbed. Her figure was in the top right window at the left of the window. I will share it if I need to. I have the picture on my Facebook. There was no one there.

We have had trouble with this computer before doing this. This computer is very picky about installing Speccy or any kind of software that tells you what your specs are. I have Fing on my phone installed, and I believe that one day when I scanned what is connected to my network, it said the computer was on when it was turned off.

Did OPTION ONE show a last wake source?

In Event Viewer, you'll only want to look at the "Wake Source" information for the date and time you want to know for when the computer woke up.

    Computer Automatically Turns On

Turn off Fast Start in the power settings. For me it's more trouble than worth. If it is a ghost tell it that it owes you for the electric bill.

    Jesse,

Option 1 would need to be done right after the computer wakes up for it to show the correct last wake. Otherwise, you'll have to look in Event Viewer for the date and time you wanted.
