Windows 10: Connect and Disconnect internet

I thought this whole exercise was to connect to a wireless connection, looking back at post number 3, I think I see where the confusion began. You mention wireless router and then mention connecting to broadband.

What does the wireless connection do if it is not in the vicinity of this desktop? Are you just trying to connect and disconnect an Ethernet (Wired) connection?

 

So for just showing what I mean, This is the pop up that appears when I click on the network icon in the system tray:




As you can see there is NO button. (Ignore the Unidentified network since that doesn't concern me at the moment - it was the same in Windows 8 too). Now when I click on the highlighted "YOU Broadband" area, since there is no button there that's the only option to click, the following settings window opens up:





Now here is where I find the buttons for Connect/Disconnect. Why it should be mandatory to go to Settings everytime I want to connect or disconnect from the internet?

I hope I make myself a bit clearer now.

 

Yes, that does clear up that there is no wireless involved, it appears you have that set as dial up, I don't know anything about that myself.

Not sure what connect button you were used to seeing but I found this that may help, it has an option to switch the flyout to the old 8.1 version,

It's a registry thing so it may not be something you are comfortable with, other than that I don't know what else to suggest, I'm sure someone has something.

Not sure why you mentioned wireless earlier though, that was confusing.

The registry editing did help partly. Now I get the Windows 8 style flyout but there is still no "connect" button, although when connected I do find a "Disconnect" button. Weird.

Thanks, at least I made some progress. Now if someone can get me to bring the "connect" button.

Thanks a ton! The solution you suggested with the registry finally worked. I said it worked partly yesterday but after a restart to my surprise I saw it worked exactly like it did in windows 8. Connect button working.
