Windows 10: Create Custom Recovery Image in Windows 10

Yep, it's still valid for Windows 10. I'm working on updated tutorial versions for them here today.

It would be recommended to double check to make sure that the recovery image you want active is still set as active after the next build of Windows 10 has finished installing to be safe.

I'm testing recimg on Build 10130 inside an administrative command prompt, and here's what cmd is telling me when I try to run it:





Has recimg.exe been dropped from recent Windows 10 builds, or do I need to enable the actual administrator account and use it to login to run this command?

PS: Just for grins, I enabled the Administrator account and got no further. Likewise, invoking recimg.exe instead of just recimg did nothing further, either.

PPS: I'm starting to think this is a function of the switchover from .wim-formatted image files to .esd-formatted (compressed and sometimes encrypted) image files in Windows 10. It may just be a format mismatch, and some kind of conversion tool (or an alternate form of recimg) will be required.

It sure does appear that Microsoft has dropped the recimg.exe file in build 10130.

I'm going to get the file from an older build now and test in 10130. If it works, I'll provide a download for it in the tutorial. *Smile

 

I do not think any of us have build 10103.LOL

I'm afraid that it doesn't work by just simply copying the recimg.exe file from an older build into 10130.

We can still create a custom reset image in build 10130 though.
