  2. Safely Remove Hardware tool

Thank you for the update, Murray. Since you mentioned that you've already tried running the rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll command to no avail, we suggest that you create a shortcut or even a batch file using the same command. Just run
the shortcut or batch file and see if the Safely Remove Hardware dialog window will appear. To create a shortcut, follow these steps:

    • Right-click on the desktop and click on New > Shortcut.
    • In the Type the location of the item box, type in, or copy and paste the following command:
      • rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll
    • Click Next and then give it a name like Safely Remove Hardware, and then click on
      Finish.

    Keep us in the loop.

  5. Why is the Safely Remove Hardware icon missing in Windows 10?

    Hi.

I am using a HP Envy with Windows 10. Safety remove icon missing and I can not safely remove my IPhone.

I have read that other members of the forum have had the same problem of the Safety remove icon not showing. I followed all the steps suggested by Microsoft link and by pclicious.com. I also created a shortcut on the desk and still no chance for me safety
remove the IPhone. I add a Galaxy Note II and still the icon was not showing. Then I added a WD external store drive and the icon suddenly appeared. It was showing not only the WD external store but the Galaxy too. However the iPhone was not in the list.

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

    Regards.

    It should yes.

You can also create a desktop icon:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/59550-creat...

You can also look here on how to restore the notification bar icon:

Right-click the notification area, then click Customize Notifications. Find Safely Remove Hardware in the list that appears, and choose Always show.

Go to the Control Panel > Add/Remove Hardware > Add/Remove Windows Components.

Double-click Networking Services in the list, and uncheck the box next to UPnP User Interface. Click OK to save your changes.

If you are still having problems, go to My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services.

Search the list for the Plug and Play entry, and double-click it when you locate it.

The Properties window should appear. Set the Startup Type to Automatic.

Click OK, and restart your PC.
