Windows 10: CU KB3197954 error

OS version 14393.321

This happens everytime at 11% progress.

So far I've tried
- System restore
- WindowsUpdateDiagnostic tool
- Emptied Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download folder
to no avail.

What else could I do?

Once the fault is fixed by

CU KB3197954 dated 27 Oct 2016 for Windows 10 Version 1607 [v14393.351], or

CU KB3200068 dated 18 Oct 2016 for Windows 10 Windows 10 Version 1511, or

Hotfix KB3199375 for Windows 7 & 8.1

then no further action needs to be taken.

The fault was a failure by Windows in processing file integrity levels correctly. There was never anything wrong with the Favorites links themselves.

If your are seeing that error message it means that the supposed update is not installed in your system(KB3197954).

We can manually download the updates by clicking the link below:

KB3197954

If you have a 64bit version, click the 64bit version link.

After downloading the update, please remove all external drives, printers etc. except for your mouse and keyboard.

Let us know what happens.

Thanks Bree! This got me finally break the 11% hurdle, now it's only timing out at 95% lol.. Well it was over night, I'm just now trying again and at least it's picking up right where it left off.

 

When an update progress seems to stop and hang forever and not complete, i've found alternate approach: go to the Windows Update Catalog thenfind, download and install the update yourself. (did this for one recent W10 cumulative update that always stopped at 70%. This approach did the trick for me)

 

Looks like a great tip too. Well it kinda just failed to refresh the progress this time, when it seemed hanging again I restarted and next time I checked for updates it was ready to install. *Smile
