    Windows 10 and KOBO ereader

    I just installed 2 updates and Kobo is now recognized.

    the updates were:

    1. Update for Windows 10 V1607 (KB3199986) - and

    2. Cumulative Update for Windows 10 V1607 (KB3200970)

    All now seems fine.

    I assume there must be some kind of reason for that Brink? I mean why would most of them come through WU but not this one?
    Is this one supposed to be just for insiders or something?

    Hey there,
    no it's for everyone but you don't really need to install it unless it's automatic download via Windows Update *Smile
    I do prefer doing only automatic updates, not this when you have to download it alone.

    Got it. But most PC owners don't frequent a forum like this, so they would have no idea there were updates available.
    Most updates are crammed down our throats with no choice, then they come up with a set of updates nobody even knows about unless you belong to a forum. Strange.
    Leave it to MS.

    If you search the catalog for the 2017-07 updates for 1607 you'll find two...

    ...note that this update is only classified as 'Updates' whereas the previous one (which was sent out through WU) is classified as 'Security Updates' - this one is not important for your protection, so its optional.

    Update history saying 'no updates have been installed yet' while Control Panel still shows the list of installed updates is exactly what you'd see if you Reset Windows Update in Windows 10. There's nothing obvious in the list of 'issues addressed' that says it would reset Windows Update, but it's a plausible explanation.

    Cumulative Update KB4025334 Windows 10 v1607 Build 14393.1532

    I thought I was installing the Cumulative Update in 14393.1480, cuz it didn't prompt for a restart; when I came back it was 15063.502! *Confused
