keep getting • 2018-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x86-based Systems (KB4074588) - Error 0x80070008 !?

Hello

For several days now I try to update from v1709 OS build 16299.24 to 16299.248 but keep getting the error message • 2018-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x86-based Systems (KB4074588) - Error 0x80070008

I have tried various suggestions but no success!

What is the best approach now?

Type: winver

Hit Enter

Does it say 16299.248 ?

If not, download February 13, 2018—KB4074588 (OS Build 16299.248)

installing now....

 

Installed took about 10mins. No problems. Required restart. This on my system one.

 

All installed fine here. About 20 minute's from downloading to installation

 

Just finished installing here 1709 Build 16299.248 running ok

The previous update KB4058258 still shows as "Requires a restart to finish installing" is still sitting there. DO I need to worry about that or does this last cumulative update supersede that ?

 

downloaded and installed on my desktop
so far there are no problems

but sfc /scannow found and repaired
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

 

First time I've had a failed update (0x8007371B) and it failed on both my desktop & laptop. So far 3 tries and no joy, even deleted everything in the \SoftwareDistribution\Downloads folder. Now to try manual update and see if I can get the update to install.

 

I'm seeing KB4074588 on my 1709 Win10 Pro Desktop instead, but it's already underway:



Will start checking on all the other machines NOW.

Update went well with two computers, but after the update on one of the computers the wsappx uses high HDD load (almost 100%), and the update raised the fragmentation of drive C: higher with 10 % (it was zero before the update and became 10 % after the update).

 

Same here on mine in fact one of the quickies updates so far

Oh Well ... KB4074588 update just won't install on either PC, no matter what I try. On shutdown and reboot it give the usual message, but it never shows the update percentage and on reboot after a few seconds it goes to the lock screen *Sad

round and round it goes and where it stops nobody knows ... guess I'll have to hide it for now ... lol
