In real world usage, there's virtually no difference. If you're playing the benchmark game using an SSD performance app, you'll see a difference. Real world, not so much.

And for the record. I've got both a 512gig Samsung 950 Pro NVMe for my OS drive; and a 512gig 850 Pro for my photo drive. Plus a 1 and 2TB Samsung 850 EVO drives. So yeah.... I'm familiar with the Pros. See My Computer *Wink

And the Pro series won't do any better with gaming.

    Later.

  2. HI,
Probably not unless on the main drive
But the evo is a more balanced read/ write where as the pro's usually have a faster read not much though.
I believe even my old MX100 has a faster read than my 850 evo's *Smile

  3. Hello again. What is a pagefile, mentioned by TairikuOkami above, and where do I find it? Thanks to you all, it looks pretty obvious I place Witcher on the D: drive. Any more info on Witcher and use of hardware/software would be much appreciated. Good night for now.

You honestly don't need to worry about a pagefile and would be best served letting Windows manage it.

The Witcher is obviously a game and you can research it to see what specs it needs. Either way Witcher won't benefit from any pagefile tweaks under Windows 10. No games will.

People will argue and confuse the issue, but the bottom line is you don't need to mess with a pagefile unless you're having memory issues.

  6. Hi,
Yeah ssd's well over provisioning simple means to me don't fill the things past 20% of the entire space of the device
So I missed how large this ssd is but at 34gb's left usually isn't a good thing *Smile

Page file/ hibernation would really depend on if you cover your bases with a backup battery system or not.
You loose power and what ever you were working on at the time is lost without hibernation.
So if your willing to spend some money you might can get rid of the page file

TrashZone, I honestly don't know where you're going here and it's doing nothing but throwing more confusion at the OP's feet. Based on the OP's post, do you really think they're ready to delve deep roots of SSD drives, and now provisioning! On top of that you now introduce Hibernation and pagefiles??? This is seriously moving away from the OP's question....

I think keeping things simple helps a lot more and severely lessons the confusion. The bottom line is the OP will a) need a larger drive, b) need an additional drive, or c) if additional drive is available, move the games there, or d)forgo the game until the space needed becomes available.

Filling out some system specs pertaining to hard drive, SSD drive space/usage would be helpful as well.

And he does ask about filling up a ssd so over provisioning applies which is always have 20% free space *Wink

He asked about page file and so I did post a link to a tutorial to read more that is out line *Roflmao2
