Windows 10: Downloading updates stuck at 0%

Hello everyone, Windows Update has been stuck at 0% every time I've tried in the last couple of days (see screenshot). These are the two updates available:

• Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3103688).

• Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3105213).

Windows Updates stuck on downloading updates at 0%

I have windows 10 installed for 3 months now.

Windows update has been working fine till a couple of weeks ago.

Windows update says updates are available but they do not download it seems to be stuck on downloading updades 0% and just stays there.

If I click on details it says updates are awaiting download this has been like this for 2 weeks now.

hoping some one can help.

please download the "Windows Update Reset Agent" from Technet Site.

Script Reset Windows Update Agent

After start the Script choose the Option 7.

Please provide the exact details of any problem it reports as not fixed.

 

So after trying a number of things, including running WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab which gave a 'Service registration missing or corrupt' error, the steps that actually helped fix the problem are outlined here by Billion Debbarma. After restarting the computer and trying Win updates again, I got quite a few updates

All of which installed fine except the November Win 10 major update version 1511, which keeps installing and reverting back the changes. But guess that's for a separate thread.

 

If you are having troubles with Windows update, use the ISO's to do an In-place upgrade.
Media creation Tool is now updated with Version 1511, OS Build 10586 of Windows 10.

Then do an InPlace upgrade using Method 1 from here:

The size of the update through Windows update and ISO are nearly the same.

The following is so simple, and worked for me on both my dell and hp laptop running windows 10 pro that had same problem, showing updates, yet stuck at 0%.
use this link How to Fix Windows Update When it Gets Stuck and simply follow the instructions to use the troubleshooter. They are CORRECT in stating that you will likely run it (don't forget to run as administrator), and when done, it will tell you it could not find the issue, and give you a couple of options from there. Simply close it out at that time, and my success was to then shut down. I removed my power cord, removed my battery...waited about a minuter, put battery back in, power cord back in, turned on, and when up, went to settings, security to get the windows update screen, and then just let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes. Don't be in a hurry, when you come back to it, should show updates available, downloaded (or downloading) and then will be normal, with option to restart now and install, or set up time later.
I do the shutdown, power cord removal, battery removal, whenever something is screwy. I had my USB ports unrecognized for a week or so, simply shutting down didn't help, but when i tried the old standby above, when came back up, everything was normal again, and didn't have to try to go through the complicated procedures others posted that may or may not work, leading to reinstalling windows.
ALWAYS try the shutdown, remove power cord and battery first... has saved me on a number of occasions.!!!!
