    downloads folder sorted into dated groups, WHY? How to change back?


    I just downloaded a file and discovered that (since the 1903 upgrade I believe) the downloads folder is sectioned into dated groups. This is the most awful thing for me and I can find no way to put the folder back into a simple list. Other folders I have opened so far don't seem to suffer from this abomination. Does some developer think I don't know how to find the date or sort the way I want to in this or other folders? I hope there is someone out there that can help me reverse this stupidity.

    Hello Connor,

    By default, the Downloads folder has "Group by" set to "Date modified" in "Descending" order.

    Did you want "Group by" set to "(None)" instead?

    The tutorials below can help show you more about the "Group by" and "Sort by" folder view settings to help for now.

    Date separator in Downloads folder


    Details, like it's always been, changed it to List and the sorting is worse, and the separators remain. And this only affects the downloads folder, Documents, Desktop, and other default folders don't show this.

    Oh you said Group By, read that wrong. Date Modified, if i change it to Name or something else the date separators are still there.

    Sort by date added to folder

    Hi there, thanks for your question.

    In File Explorer, all sorting options can be viewed by following these steps:

    - Open the folder and right click inside of it, not on a file.

    - Go to Sort by > More.

    This brings up a list of all possibilities of what to sort by. It doesn't look like there's an options for "date added to folder", but one of the other Date options may help, such as Date Created. You could create a copy of the file and move it in, so that
    the date created matches the date added to the folder?
