Windows 10: failed to install KB4056892

I have a Elitebook 2560p and I have a clean install of Windows 10 on it (not officially supported by HP but it works fine without third party driver apart the ones that Windows auto download from Windows update). I have a problem with KB4056892 it fails with the error code 0x800f0922. The previous cumulative security patch had the same effect (KB 4054517). The update begin to install; then I see a message that there is a problem and "revert all changes" and I see in Windows update that the update has failed. I have tried to obtain a detailed explanation about the failure following this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...0-version-1607 but I am not able to interpret these logs. Do someone has a clue of what is wrong?

AMD Athlon non-bootable state after install of KB4056892

As I stated, I am aware of KB4073290. But my PC refuses to install it before KB4056892. But the install of KB4056892 fails. So I am still stuck. What do I do?

Please go to this page and download Fix Windows Update by Ramesh Kumar and save to your Desktop.
(Click on the hard drive icon with a downward arrow).

• Extract it to your Desktop.
• Then, double-click on the program and click the Fix Windows Update button.
• Reboot your computer and see if it will work now.

Note When you click Update now, the tool will download and run. If you don't have the latest version, it will download and walk you through the installation. Otherwise, it will tell you that you are on the latest version.


Determine whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit Windows:

• From Start, choose Settings.
• Select System.
• Click About.
• Scroll down to System type.

Download the version of the latest SSU (KB40490111) that matches your version of Windows from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Restart your device and check for updates. If problem not resolved follow below instructions.

• Go to the Update history page.
• Find the most recent update KB for the version of Windows 10 you have – it’s usually at the top of the list – and either write the KB number down or copy it.
• Go to the Microsoft Update site and search for the KB number.
• Select the link for the download, and then choose Download. Select Save if you are prompted.
• When the download completes, select Open to start the update.

Open an elevated Command Prompt.

Type the following command and press Enter.

Code: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth[/quote]
Note It might take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.



Type the following command and press Enter.

Close the command prompt, and then run Windows Update again.



If problem not resolved follow below instruction.

Download the in-place upgrade” of Windows 10.

 

After having reinstalling Windows from scratch, the problem seems to be gone.
