I just scrolled back through the thread reading, have you tried this without Bitdefender protection? I am sorry if I missed it. I saw BD in one of the logs you posted.

Yes, that was the first thing I tried. I have mentioned that in the thread before.

I tried with Windows in safe mode and the launch time was noticeably faster in that.

Okay thanks for posting about:support info. I can't see any issues there.

I am also starting to think that security software might be a factor. Do you have Windows Defender enabled? If so try turning it off.

Did you try this? It's portable so runs without installation.

Bitdefender turns off Windows Defender when it installs.

    Speedyfox didn't help.

    Windows.

Clean boot didn't make any difference.
I believe the difference between a clean boot and safe mode is that clean boot loads some non essential drivers like graphics cards and stuff. And since there was a change when I booted windows in safe mode, I'm assuming that it might be an issue with one of these drivers. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well it could be drivers but just as equally it could be some other non windows software or service that doesn't run in safe mode.

It's not a solution but you might find this useful. I just tried and tested this:

    Firefox Preloader
It sits in the system tray and pre-loads some files that Firefox needs. You then launch firefox from the system tray icon. It does launch faster for me.

I guess that you will have to check for updates for all software that runs on boot and install if updates are found.

Try Autoruns to get a list of stuff to investigate:

Note: Don't be tempted to fix "file not found" errors in AutoRuns since it cannot always parse (read) every file.

I installed Windows 10 on my 6 year old laptop and installed firefox and all other software as well. And it is quicker, not just firefox, but windows in general too. Could this be a hardware or driver issue?

Since you stated that you already reinstalled windows with no difference noticed it can't be a driver issue if you tested firefox before installing or updating anything else.

Seems like i managed to isolate the problem. Disabling my nvidia graphics card had a significant effect. Any ideas on how to proceed next? Currently I have the driver updated through Windows update. Nvidia website has a newer version but I tried the update previously and it caused the same problem.

Not really. I can update my own graphics driver but it involves fully removing the old driver first. I reckon that you should get the driver from your computer manufacturer's website even if it's not he latest driver as it will likely work.

You'd be better off asking for help here:
