Windows 10: Frequent BSODs 5-10 min after startup. Often Memory_Management ...

First time post,

I'm running a PC (HP Spectre x360) with Windows-10, and I am recently getting BSODs, 5-10 minutes after booting my PC. I've tried running various programs such as CCleaner (to remove temporary files ...), and whocrashed (quick analysis), but l couldn't find anything.

The BSODs contain various messages, most often -- but not always -- Memory management or critical process crash messages.

I forgot to add that I ran Windows memory diagnostic tool, which mentioned that I have a hardware problem, and that I send in my PC to the manufacturer (in this case, HP). Although this PC is still under warranty, I would only do that as a last resort. (Next to last resort would be a factory reset)

Please advise, and let me know if anything else is needed.

Also, how likely is it that I have an actual hardware problem, vs. some faulty driver?

Multiple BSOD on new Ryzen build

I also got a bunch of BSODs on my new Ryzen build:

*most frequent* MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

*second most frequent* IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

I tried everything I could to troubleshoot. Turns out the culprits are not only Onedrive, but also Dropbox. Enabling either one will send my PC straight to BSOD at Windows startup. Do you think the windows update you mentioned also
fixes dropbox?

 

Multiple BSOD on new Ryzen build

I also had some other error codes (MEMORY_MANAGEMENT) happened quite often.

I did actually solve the problem this weekend. I opted into the Windows Insiders "Slow ring" and a couple of minutes later I found the "creators update" when checking for new Windows Updates (i.e. Build 15063). After installing this my computer restarted
and without me knowing it - it started OneDrive. It was still disabled in my startup settings (under task manager) but the program and sync was started. I realised this after it had downloaded over 100 GB. After this, I just enabled my OneDrive on startup
again and not a single BSOD since thursday last week. I have played games, 3DMark, synced onedrive, watched videos and have probably 20 hours uptime since the last BSOD.

Yeah,

I'm still getting these Memory Management BSODs. I've noticed their almost always related to browsing activity. I.e., I can run my PC on Windows-10 without seeing any BSODs, as long as I don't browse the internet.

Run MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums



Note



MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.

Warning Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
Please create a restore point.
Please follow this tutorial to run driver verifier.

Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.



Note Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.
