Try this: Windows 10 media creation tool
Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help

There are two options on the utility screen
    O Upgrade this now PC

O Create installation media for another PC
See Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums for instructions on how to create and use the install media

  2. Upgraded with no issues apart from activation, which is a server side issue.

Same here Updated and then make a clean install from USB key, everything find except activation problems. Microsoft support told me the problem is from there side. Have to wait few days to be back to normal

Installed 10 on the HP desktop this morning via invitation. Installing on my gaming laptop now via the media creation tool as I hadn't received a notification yet and I'm too impatient. *Smile

  5. You dearly hope that it is simply a MS server issue and not a "I did a Win10 upgrade without MS's permission and MS will never activate it" issue. No one knows if this is the case. Yes, a MS support person said it was their problem, but until it actually activates, it is YOUR problem. Otherwise, install your old OS, do ALL the updates to get the upgrade icon back, then wait once again for MS to properly OK your upgrade. Me, I will wait, thanks.

Has anyone successfully installed the 10 upgrade?

Yes, follow the instructions on the reddit.com article: Fix for the 80240020 error when trying to install Windows 10 : windows
You might get another Error after trying to upload, but just repeat the process again as described in Article, took me a couple of times before it finally worked, so don't give up

  9. I appreciate all the tips, but If I start deleting files that's when things go wrong. I knew this wasn't going to be as simple as was claimed. I am sticking with 7.....nice try Microsoft, I'm out! ...thanks everyone!!! *Smile

My upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 went far better than I expected, all my applications from 7 were left working apart from one and even desktop icons were in the same position they were before the upgrade.
The only app I'm having problems with is Microsoft Money which refuses to open as it keeps looking for an Internet Explorer 6 entry in the registry. This app worked fine with Win 10 until build 10240. There is a registry hack posted on the MS Money forum which works, I'll just have to see if it has affected anything else.

Upgraded from 8.1 Home to 10 Home went without a hitch. . .*Wink. One of the nice things is 8.1 would not see my ATI card 10 picked it up, hence, I now have all three monitors up and running, now just have to fine that old copy of Display Fusion. . .*Smile. . .Good-bye to the Insider Program. Decided there is no reason to stay within the program any more, albeit will continue to monitor the Ten Forums for what is new and wonderful in the World of Windows 10. . .*Smile

Well I had to download the Iso because it simply refused to download the update to W10. I can advise everyone who has got issues with the update to get the Iso and install it from a DVD/ USB stick.
