Windows 10: Hopeless with Windows 10 & the Infamouse Error 0x800f081f

I'm desperate...There are 2 weeks i'm trying to fix DISM corruption without success.. i've read a tons of post hope to find any dolution from you guys.
Here's what i did until now

So i've googled (https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/7...-10-image.html) and discovered could be helpful use .wim image, so i've mounted Windows 10 PRO
x64.iso created with Microsoft Tool for my Windows 8.1 upgrade but... NO LUCK... so i've tried to load following:
1.Download DISM GUI - Download: DISM GUI 4.0 , right click and run as Administrator
2.On the fist tab, click on Choose Wim and navigate to the USB, under Source folder, select install.wim
3.Click on choose folder and type: C:\mount and then click on Mount WIM
4.From Admin Command prompt, type:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:\mount\windows /LimitAccess
5.Click on Dismount WIM when done

but got error telling me i could not load WIM, after another research i've discovered Free Win 10 Upgrade WIM aren't mountable.. THEN i've got the full MSDN iso
(en_windows_10_multiple_editions_x64_dvd_6846432.iso)... it worked, WIM mounted but results are the same.. i STILL cannot repair that damn component store..

This is old but I'm putting this out here as I've recently had to go through this on my Win10 Pro build. Someone on the TechNet forum figured it out and it is the
only thing that worked for me so re-posting it here. In short, you must use the original Windows 10 ISO in order to successfully run the DISM command. The original ISO has different source content than the ESD:

After hours of searching for a solution to this issue (i.e. error: 0x800f081f) , I FINALLY found the above link and was able to download the original Win 10 ISO (vs using the ISO created using the Media Creation
Tool).

Note if you use the ISO from the Media Creation Tool, you will likely find install.esd in the folder vs. install.wim

Install.wim is part of the ORIGINAL ISO whereas install.esd is part of the ISO from the creation tool.

After running... DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:wim:C:\[insert folder name here]\install.wim:1 /limitaccess I was able to correct the issue and then ran sfc /

Absolutely..not, out of discussion for time and other reasons. I cannot reinstall whole system for a single error...

 

I'm curious so you believe it's much better to fix this error or problem and quicker than to do a clean installation ?

 

Have you tried inserting the Install media on a USB or DVD, load it and take note of the drive letter, open the sources folder and find the install.wim (let me know if it is and install.esd) Then run this commpan with the USB or DVD still loaded.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:D:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitacess Replace the portion in red with your drive letter.

 

Yes i tried to execute in PS 5 DISM and /souce in 2 ways...

Loaded ISO with ADemon Tools and pointed to 0: drive letter - ERROR
Copied .install.wim to anotehr HDD drive letter D: - STILL ERROR

Looks like the cursed file its: SmbLocalization.psd1

Last resort it's to mount WIM with DISM GUI 4.0..trying it now... will report back soon

How did you do that exactly?
I'm sitting here with a Win10 iso file, a dvd with a mounted iso file and an install.wim file (copied from the dvd).
All my mounting efforts with the GUI were in vain.

You must be sure DO NOT mount free ISO created with MS tools for FREE upgrade, those iso's are NOT intended to be mounted and give errors. You need a RETAIL/MSDN verison of Win 10.

 

No, YOU CAN. You don't need a RETAIL/MSDN version at all.

The free Install.wim is in fact an Install.esd. When you mount the Windows.iso by double clicking to a virtual disk you can tell by the disk name that is all esd.
So with NTlite I converted the Install.wim (aka .esd) to a normal .wim file.
Mounted (with your Dism gui 4.0 - thanks for letting me know) the file, and was able to run DISM.

Job done.

Can you illustrate more details? I tried to convert the Install.esd to Install.win using NTLite, and then load the Install.win to D:\mount\ with index 1, then ran the command line on CMD. But it never worked for me. Still cannot find the source error... Did I missed anything? Thanks.

Make sure that Install.wim is decoupled (attachment first figure).

As administrator in DISM:
Choose Install.wim and check WIM info (second figure).
Choose mount location and mount, then check DISM output (third figure).

In NTLite:
Add Install.wim location, couple if needed (fourth figure).

@allard, thanks for your detailed guidance. The first thing I have noticed is that when I check the Install.win information, I found there are four different indeces for the package. The info from DISM is below:

So, when I mounted this Install.win file using index 1 on an empty folder, there is no such install.win file under the Sources directory. Maybe that is the reason why the Dism failed.

I generated this Install.win file from the install.esd file from my Windows 10 automatic upgrade file under the Sources directory. Should I try something different?

Another question is that the "D:\Mount\install.wim:1 " is where the install.win is mounted to or the original win file for mounting? I have tried both, seem not working.
