Windows 10: How can I switch out of S mode without creating a Microsoft account?

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account


Hi Daryl, welcome to the Ten Forums.

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

Tutorials:

Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. Unable to switch out of S mode

I understand that you are trying to switch out of S mode however, you are unable to switch out of it. We will look into this for you.



Please reply with the following details to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps:

• Do you receive any error code/message?
  
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
  

You can try resetting the Microsoft Store cache: Press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the
Run dialog box, type wsreset.exe, and then select OK.




You can also try signing out of store and signing in back. If the issue persists, please create a new user account and then try switching out of S mode. Please follow the steps
from the article Create a local user or administrator account in Windows
10 to create a new user account.

Windows 8 with 2 Microsoft accounts?

Yea, I would create a local account and just use your school account to login to Outlook and Onedrive.
