Go into the People App Settings > Filter Contacts List, and make sure you have the right Accounts listed, add/remove as required.
    On mine
Hide Contacts without phone numbers is OFF.
Show contacts from, has these ticked
MS Account, Gmail, Outlook (Mail and Calendar)
    People App is version 10.2.1451.0
    Mail App is version 17.8218.40507.0
Along with the Mail App, these seem to be updated every week, sometimes irritatingly changing settings or adding a 'feature'.

How do you import contacts into Windows 10 Mail from Thunderbird?

Hi HippsieGypsie, oh yes I love tech! *Eek Correct, all my contacts are indeed listed, Yes the contact info shows, but sadly their email address is not hyperlinked so clicking on it does nothing. *Sad That would have been a work-around. I've included an image.

Good morning, Razz. We'll try to get to a solution today I hope. To review > The Email app is not syncing the contacts imported from Tbird and Tbird contacts hyperlinks do not work in the People app.

It may be that the way we imported the Tbird contacts might not totally work. Hopefully that's not the case.

Let's check the settings Helmut just suggested. Also, there is a thing called "App connector" that allows apps to sync with one another. Open Settings app > Privacy > Go through the whole list and make your choices qualify the connections/app syncing with one another.

Make sure all your apps are up to date in the Store app. Store app > Click on your account logo > Downloads and updates. While you're there you may want to check the Store settings there.

If that doesn't work try: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...r-windows-apps

Hi Helmut. My People version and Mail version are the same as yours. My needed accounts are checked.

Just to make it clear: All my contacts are listed but except for my original contacts imported from Yahoo, any other desired contact does not appear as an option when I am trying to send an email to them. I type their name in the "To:" field and their name is not in the list of options.

How do you import contacts into Windows 10 Mail from Thunderbird?

Darn! I lost half of what I had written in the above post. I tried to do the quote thing twice and it someone wiped out my opening comments. I'll write it here - my opening was:

Good morning back at you HippsieGypsie *Smile It will be wonderful if we can resolve my issue today.

I realize that I could just download Thunderbird which I've been using for many years. It works great and I'm familiar with it - so changing email clients isn't because I did not like Thunderbird. I just thought that since I have Windows 10 on my new laptop, that I would give the built-in Mail app a try. Back in the days when my OS was Windows ME, I looked at Outlook and was not impressed so I didn't use it for long. I can see that the Windows 10 Mail app is much improved over those Outlook days when I used it - now it would just be nice if the contacts worked.

I see. I'm a rare one that liked Windows 8, then 8.1 with the "Modern" Store apps vs the .exe desktop programs. MS took a different approach to computing, basically because of security, API, navigation, and looks. A walled-garden approach. These modern Store apps are indeed evolving nicely > When they work properly that is.

a.g. Does Tbird give a drop down list of contacts as you type a name into the "To" space/bar?

OK, I've checked all you suggested. I feel images tell the story well, so here goes:

HippsieGypsie, you said "While you're there you may want to check the Store settings there", did you mean to check if "Updates Apps Automatically" is on? Mine is "ON".

Also, the version shown in yellow highlight, is that what my version is our is it the latest available version? If it's the latest available version then my version is the same.

I will now look at the link you provided.

How do you import contacts into Windows 10 Mail from Thunderbird?

I downloaded and ran the troubleshooter you linked to and It found that the Windows Store cache was damaged and thereby fixed it. Very, very sadly, this did not fix my problem. *cry

HippsieGypsie, you have spent a lot of time trying to help me. Perhaps I should just give up on it for now and just go back to using Thunderbird. I can always try again in 6 months or a year from now and perhaps then they would have fixed this issue (assuming it's an app problem).

I went to those links and performed resets for both the Mail/Calendar and People apps, Again, it did not solve my problem.

I'm sorry that I've taken up so much of your time HippsieGypsie. Your time and effort is extremely appreciated. I think I'll give up on it and go back to Thunderbird.

  15. I never could get Mail to play nicely with gmail. Gave up and just went back to gmail.
