  1. How to add a tile to windows start layout programmatically

    Hello Friends,

So I'm working on a firefox extension that will allow you to pin the website you're on to your start-menu, or create a shortcut in your taskbar or all programs menu. The trouble is that I have no idea programmatically how to add a tile to the start menu. I can create a shortcut in "all programs" and I think I can find how to pin to the taskbar, but I'm struggling to find how to pin to the start menu on windows 10.

I'm hoping there's a registry entry, or an XML fil, or something else I can just modify to add the entry but I'm coming up short on google. Everything I've found has to do with imposing a completely new layout on the user rather than just appending an item. Please help!

    Thanks in advance.

Note: The extension is written in Javascript and it requires a native program to communicate with it that I'm writing in python since that will be easier to express. I'm willing to be creative and perform the action in C# or powershell though (I've accessed both through Python before)
