Windows 10: I seem to have two Local Administrator Accounts and I can't log in to my Microsoft Account

I recently purchased Office 365. It is linked to my Microsoft Account. But my Windows 10 computer seems to have two Local Administrator Accounts they have different photos and I'm not sure why. I also don't know to delete one of them since I don't need two.


When I try to log in with my Microsoft Account instead I get so far - using my email and password and then it asks for my password again so I put it in again and it says it's the wrong one! But I just put it in on the previous screen!


Why are these two things happening and how do I get it fixed?

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account


Hi Daryl, welcome to the Ten Forums.

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. Local account to administrator

Just to be straight with terminology.

You can set up your device with a local account or Microsoft account.

Within each of these options you can then either be an Administrator or a Standard user.

If you go Start, Settings, Account and click on Your Info is it listing you as a local account and just below that are you Standard or Administrator.

 

register PC with microsoft; use local account to log in

Just simply log in with your Microsoft Account.
Switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 10

Just go back to using a local account:
