I don't think I have EMET installed, unless an automated Windows update added it. I can't see in in the programs list anyway.

I have already tried turning IE off and back on within the Windows Features list (with reboots between) but although it's present in the programs list it fails to run. Tried the 32 and 64 bit exes directly too.

  2. OK, I've uninstalled Trusteer Rapport (banking security service for websites) and Freemake Video Converter, both of which were showing errors in the system events during system boot in case either of those were the culprits, but that did not help.

Here are the System Event logs:

Windows Log > Application > Error message:
Windows Log > Application > Info message a few seconds later in the log:

I've also tried uninstalling a million things and reinstalling my video driver. No luck. Here's my WER log:

IE 11 not loading, how can I reinstall it?

    Hi
Did you get this fixed? I've tried removing it and adding it back to windows features, and resetting it - not worked so far.
Same as you, I need it for work applications.

  5. No, still not got it working.

This is one factor that is preventing me from upgrading my other PCs at the moment, as until I know I have IE available on at least one machine (doesn't really matter which one) I can't risk it.

  6. When I upgraded to windows 10 both Edge and IE11 showed up in Task Bar.
I don't like IE11 so removed it doing it the way you did, and it was gone.
Done same to my friends but he decided he wanted it back so did the reverse and re ticked the box for IE11 and it reloaded and came back for him.
But no icon showed until he went into more action, left click that and IE 11 is there, if you click Open With Internet Explorer you should find it works.

Click on it and the icon will appear in taskbar and IE11 loads and works ok

  7. No, the problem is that I know where to find the icon (or just to run iexplore.exe directly) but it fails to start up properly, as per the logs above. Removing and reinstalling it via the Windows Features menu does not help.

Edge looks pretty enough, but is far too feature-light for me for daily use (and I also have some specific legacy device control HTML pages which need IE to run correctly).

  8. IE 11 not loading, how can I reinstall it?

Sorry thought that might help have you tried google its self don't know about Crome as don't use it.
Yes Edge is a lot smoother and once they start adding to it later will be awesome, but it does what I want it to without any problems.
Anyway back to your problem did you come from windows 7 or 8, or 8.1 and was IE11 working ok in any of them. I know not long ago they did an update for IE11 did you get it and install it

  9. Yes, I came from Windows 7 and it was working normally there before the upgrade to 10. Everything else about the upgrade worked really well by the way, even some esoteric HP laptop features such a touch-sensitive controls bar above the keyboard and a fingerprint reader, both of which I was expecting to have issues with.

My next step when I get a chance will be to try a clean-install of 10 and see if it works that way.

  10. Have you tried Trouble Shooter that may point you in the right direction

  11. Yes, I've tried all the obvious user-focussed stuff, Windows thinks IE is installed fine but it just won't start. It will start in Safe Mode, but that of course doesn't support the USB device that I need to access via IE (which is a universal remote control, with a website to edit the keypress functions, but the company's legacy website only works in IE). I've tried disabling IE Add-ons, but that doesn't help. The Windows event logs are included in my post a little earlier in the thread in case that helps.

  12. Yes I have looked at them.
In all the laptops and computers I have helped install windows 10 on, IE11 and Edge both load and up to now I have done 20 for friends, so looks like somehow your upgrade got corrupted,
You did not do a custom install did you ?

IE 11 not loading, how can I reinstall it?

How do you start IE in safe mode in Win10?

I'm planning to download Win10 and reinstall from scratch. Not favourite option, clearly.
