Discus and support Increase Number of Items in Jump Lists in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; I am still unable to get more than 12 items in a Jumplist. I have tried modifying Start_JumpListItems, and adding JumpListItems_Maximum but those made... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by Bucky, Jul 8, 2015.

  1. Increase Number of Items in Jump Lists

Instead of doing that, try just adding a DWORD to the same registry location.

Click Edit at the top of the menu, and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Type in JumpListItems_Maximum and then press ENTER.

Right click the newly added option 'JumpListItems_Maximum' and click MODIFY.

Set the value to DECIMAL and type in your desired jumplist quantity. By default I don't think you can go lower than 10.

Ok, so I've added the suggested registry entries with no problem on several computers, but I have one that just refuses to cooperate. I've added/increased all 3 recommended entries, followed the cmd directions to reset AutomaticDestinations and CustomDestination, rebuilt the quick access list, and restarted multiple times to no effect. here's the reg:

and the items currently pinned in quick access:

and what the jump list shows:

Notice that it's still only showing 12 items, despite my changed registry and there being 14 items available to be shown. If anyone has any ideas, I would really be grateful. This is totally frustrating.

    Try deleting Start_JumpListItems entirely.

Thanks, Keith. But no such luck. After some more hunting, I'm actually thinking the error is somewhere else. I can right-click on a folder and "pin to quick access" successfully, but i can not pin or unpin from the jump list itself - the pin icons show up, but they don't actually do anything. They did work before the last couple windows updates. If anyone has a clue how to reset that function, I'd appreciate it. I've already run sfc /scannow without identifying or solving the issue

  8. Increase Number of Items in Jump Lists

I had posted here many times when this post was fresh how adding JumpListItems_Maximum to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced didn't have any effect for me.

I eventually found the solution, but never posted back here. Following the Creators Update, this broke again and I couldn't remember what I had done. I've since re-figured it out and thought I should add it here for the few people who are in the same boat.

The problem is the registry key. For whatever reason, some systems require the key to be in the HKLM registry, instead (maybe in addition, I've not tried it w/o both) of the HKCU registry. So just follow all of the same steps outlined by the main solution in this thread, but add the JumpListItems_Maximum key to:
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Again, I haven't tried it without also having this value in the same place in HKCU, so not sure if only this one matters or it requires both, but this instantly fixed it for me. No need to restart or log off or anything. Add the key with a value of 25 (use whatever # you want), right click on the item in the Taskbar and it jumped form 11-12 items to 25.

  9. I was in the same boat. Try adding it also to:

    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Having it there instead or in addition (it was in both places for me, but not sure it needs to be) to HKCU instantly fixed it for me.

  11. I had to redo this again following the Fall Creators Update. This time I tested with only using:

    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

And that did the trick instantly. No restart needed. I never made the change in the HKCU part of the registry. Not sure if this would work for everyone, but it may very well be that this is the more universal solution.
