Windows 10: Issues with updating to Windows 10 1903

For several months, I've had trouble getting my laptop updated to Windows 10 1903. (I am currently on Windows 10 1803).


What happens is when I let the update start, it will start updating normally, no issues. I have enough harddrive space on my computer. Then after it reaches the 33% point, it will show the MSI Logo and then nothing else ever happens. I have to turn off the computer to restart it and undo any progress made on the update. I've confirmed no progress is happening when this happens as I've left my computer on to install the update overnight and it still shows the same Logo with nothing else happening.


I also created a Thread on the MSI Forums here a little while ago https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=326795.msg1935426#msg1935426 My laptop info is listed there. I've tried most of the suggestions there and they haven't worked.


The last reply on the Thread there I haven't tried yet. It suggests changing the boot mode from UEFI to UEFI with CSM. The problem is, I'm not sure how to do that. If someone could walk me through the steps to try that, or perhaps has a better understanding of the issue I"m experiencing, that would be helpful.


It is November now and I am still on 1803 which is no longer officially supported from MS. I would like to get this update over with, but for some reason my computer will not properly install the update. If anyone has another potential solution to try, I would also enjoy that.

As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.


I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

Windows 10 download speed issues

Try this method:

• First of all from Start Menu, open Settings (Type settings in the search bar and it will appear).
• locate and select “Update and Security“.
• in this window, Locate “Advanced Options”. Click on it.
• In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
• Turn off Updates from more than one place.

Your system will not work as a seeder for other Windows 10 users. It will give sudden boast to your Slow internet speed.
