  1. Missing power options

I apparently have Fast Startup enabled after upgrading to Win10. I would like to turn it off so I am not automatically logged on when I power up. (We don't have the IDs password protected on this desktop PC.) There are very simple instructions given in a TenForums tutorial, but my Power Options don't match what is shown in the tutorial. In particular, under Shutdown Settings I have only Sleep and Lock - no "Turn on fast startup"; no "Hibernate". Since this is a desktop there is also no "On battery" options, but that is obviously not a concern. But is the option of turning on and off Hibernate available only on laptops? That doesn't make sense.

    :)

  2. power option missing

I only have one power plan: Balanced.

I am on Choose or customize a power plan. I only see
    Change plan settings.

I went to cmd and restored default schemes, too.

    Any other ideas?

    Missing power options

    Hello pokeefe, *Smile

I'm afraid that you will need to add passwords to all of your accounts to stop the last account from automatically being signed in to at startup.

Correct, a desktop wouldn't have an "On battery" option unless you had a UPS connected.

Turn on fast startup and Hibernate would not be available in "Shutdown settings" unless hibernate is enabled.

  5. After posting, I realized my interpretation of the problem had to be wrong. I had no hiberfil.sys so hibernation was obviously not involved. So upon startup Windows 10 will bring up the user that was active at shutdown if userids don't have passwords? I think Microsoft is going a bit to far to make things "easy".

    Correct.

The last user that was active at shutdown will be selected by default on the sign in screen at the next startup. If that last user doesn't have a password, it will automatically be signed in to.

Adding a password for all accounts is the only way to stop it.
