    Missing "Tailored experiences" option in Privacy settings

    A couple of weeks ago I installed the Windows 10 Pro N 1703 (15063.413) as a new clean installation, i.e. not as an update from an earlier version.

    Yesterday I thought I would go through and check the privacy settings once again. I watched a couple of Youtube videos on the subject and saw that my Feedback & diagnostics settings differed from the ones in the videos. My settings page does not have the "Let Microsoft provide more tailored experiences with relevant tips and recommendations by using your diagnostic data" setting!

    This is how my "Feedback & diagnostics" tab looks like:

    I did some searches and found this article:
    Turn On or Off Tailored experiences with diagnostic data in Windows 10 Windows 10 General Tips Tutorials

    There you can read the following:

    --------------------
    To Turn On or Off Tailored experiences with diagnostic data using a REG file

    The .reg files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Privacy

    TailoredExperiencesWithDiagnosticDataEnabled DWORD

    0 = Off
    1 = On
    --------------------

    I then checked the above key in my own registry and it has the value of 2!

    Why am I missing the "tailored experiences" option in Privacy settings? What does a value of 2 mean in the registry? Is this something that has to do with me using the N version?

    Hopefully someone can shed some light on this...

    :)

    File Explorer

    In the File Tab > Change Folder and Search Options, you can experiment with the various settings, including un-ticking the default Quick Access Settings.

    You can also use File Explorer's View Tab to tailor the opening screen in numerous ways.

  3. my phone " keys in " some numbers while talking

    As I said in my first post you can either try to update it's software to see if it cures it.

    If it doesn't then your phone is faulty and you will need to get it repaired.

    Missing "Tailored experiences" option in Privacy settings

    Hello macke, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

    I just installed a N edition of Windows 10 in a VM to see if I get the same as you, and I do. Even after updating to build 15063.447.

    I had the setting available in Option One during Windows Setup, but not in Settings.

    It appears to only happen in N or KN editions of Windows 10. Otherwise the setting is still there in a non "N' or "KN" edition.

    Setting this to "0" in the registry should help make sure it's turned off though.

    Thank you Brink for verifying this. I really appreciate it!

    Did you turn it off in "Option One" during setup? If "Off", did you get the value "2" in the registry? I don't actually remember what I did choose during setup...

    I will probably do the manual change in the registry and set it to 0. I still wonder what a value of 2 actually means. On, Off or something in between... *Smile

    I also think Microsoft should change their documentation accordingly because it does not seem to be valid if using N (or KN) editions:

    Correct. I turned it off during Windows Setup, and had a value of "2" set by default.

    If not sure what "2" means either since I can't find any official documentation about it, but I would set it to "0" if you wanted to make sure it's turned off.
