Windows 10: New Mail Alerts in Outlook 2016

I am running Outlook 2016 under Win 10. Under all previous versions of Outlook I have be enable to increase the time a new email alert stays on the screen by editing the registry like this.



HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\DesktopAlerts
DWORD: TimeOn



I have set the value of that DWORD to 360000 in an attempt get the alert to stay on an hour. The alerts stay on only about 3 or 4 seconds.



How can I make the alerts stay on longer?

Snipping Tool - doesn't use default Mail program.

I have 2 email programs - Outlook 2016 & W10 Mail. I set W10 Mail as the default for 'Mail'. However Snip still launches a new email window into Outlook 2016. What's going on here?

 

Windows 10 - email notification sounds gone.

That notifies anyone following this conversation, not much else. ;-)



You should likely post this in the Outlook (Microsoft Office) area, not the "Windows 10 --> Other" area. Perhaps broadening the audience of expert volunteers would help.



Have you done any of your own research in the couple of months since you posted this? If so - can/will you share EXACTLY what you have tried, preferably with screen snips of the settings you have on one or both of your systems...?

Wondering if you checked EVERYTHING that particular post suggests checking?

• In the Action Center (in the bottom right corner, next to your time) click on All Settings.
  
  An alternative method to open the Settings app would be to open the Start Menu and then click on Settings.
  
• Click on: System.
• From the panel on the left select: Notifications & Actions.
• In the “Show notifications from these apps” section at the bottom, click on Outlook.
  • If Outlook isn’t listed, you haven’t received a new message yet so Outlook isn’t registered yet as an app that receives notifications. Simply send yourself a test message in that case and reopen the Settings app.
    
  • Also note that you must be using Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016 as Outlook 2010 and previous have their own notifications which do not integrates with Windows 10.
• Make sure that you have enabled all notification options.
• Close Settings.

Outlook: Display a Desktop Alert
If you still don’t get an alert now, make sure that Outlook is still configured to display a Desktop Alert;

• File-> Options-> Mail
• Scroll down to the section: Message arrival
• Enable the option: Display a Desktop Alert

Make sure that Display a Desktop Alert is enabled in Outlook as well.

NOTE: Outlook will only display New Email Desktop Alerts for messages that are received in the default Inbox folder of your account(s). When you are moving your emails to a different folder by a message rule, you will not get this alert.

Outlook 2013- No incoming email sound



Where a solution for IMAP accounts is given - and you have not stated what TYPE of account is setup in your Outlook... So what type of account is setup?

It DOES matter - have you read this conversation . . .?:

Have you searched thoroughly thru it and turned on all email / outlook notifications you can? heh

If you go into settings and then Ease of Use, select the bottom option 'Other Options'

you can then set the notifications for various intervals between 5 secs and 5 mins
