Windows 10: Please help me resolve this home network issue

start with the Basics.....Does EVERY PC have a Password? this is a MUST with Win10. Networking on Win10 WILL NOT work if there is no Password present for Logon... or it's Blank (M$ considers this a security risk)

you can however use the Tutorial here on TenForums to bypass the Logon when you start your computer.... and even the Lock Screen

are they all on the same Workgroup ? look under System ...it can be any name....M$ default is Workgroup

Are all computers connect to same Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254?

Maybe changing PC1 computer name will help resolve the issue.

I would like you to check the system integrity of your Windows OS installation.

• Please type cmd.exe into Start Menu search box.
• Please right click cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator".
• Please type the following command and press the <Enter> key: sfc /scannow (Please note that there is a space between 'sfc" and "/scannow".)
• It should take about 20 minutes to run, if there are no serious errors.
• If the System File Checker reports that some errors were fixed, but some remain; please reboot your computer and run the System File Checker from an Administrator Command Prompt, again.
• If the System File Checker again reports that some errors were fixed, but some remain, please reboot your computer and run it a third time.
• If "Resource Integrity Violations" (errors) are reported that could not be corrected, or were not corrected after a third SFC run, then please navigate to the folder: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and copy the file "cbs.log" to your desktop immediately. I am asking you do that because that file is dynamic, so I want to be able to examine a copy that is unchanged from the time that the System File Checker was run.
• If there are errors that couldn't be corrected, let me know and I will provide you with instructions as to how to upload the file.

Also execute Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command.


You can also try repair install Windows 10 without losing anything.

This is news to me. I do not use Windows passwords at all (never have).
I've been running this EXACT same network configuration since Win10 was launched, without these passwords and never had an issue.

 

FIXED!!

How on earth could it be something so simple as a PC name!!??
Windows updates must have made a change, as the machines have been named this way for years;-)

All the other machines have the same naming convention and run just fine.

I'm massively grateful for the amazing feedback and help I've here. Especially for you sir. I'm guessing you are or were a network engineer?

I'm not a network engineer but i do have basic networking knowledge and use my Windows OS knowledge to troubleshot errors.

 

Interesting ...not sure why that would work unless 2 Computers had the same Name and were causing a conflict on the Network

Your 1st Post would seem to indicated it was no longer called PC1 since you couldn't search by name for it though....
