Windows 10: Problem exporting photos from Mac Photos app to Windows 10 Photos app

I recently tried to export all of my photos (around 15k) from 2010 iMac to my Windows 10 computer. I followed the instructions that I found at https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/move-mac-files-windows-pc. The result was that 2/3 of my photos were imported into my Windows 10 Photos app at the correct date, but 1/3 (more than 5k) were all imported into the same date - the date that I began the export process.


According to the file info, the folder path reflects the correct date, but the date in the "Date taken" field for all 5,000+ photos are all the same.


Does anyone know why this happened? Have you had this happen to you? A related question is - if I had edited the original photo, would that have prevented it from being imported to the correct date?


Is there a mistake in the instructions that I followed? Is there a better source that would give me instructions on how to export and then import photos?


Maybe a more important question - does anyone know how to move en masse the photos that were imported all into the same date to their correct dates? I know that I can change the data in the "Date taken" field to the date where I want each individual photo to be located, but with more than 5k photos, that's a little time-consuming!

I just want to suggest an alternative............. restore Windows Photo Viewer which is part of Windows 7.

Personally I use Windows Photo Gallery. That's because I have Windows Essentials installed and I have been using it since Vista.

 

Windows 10 built in photos app not exporting video


I have Windows 10 build 1809. I created a video with the built in Photos app, when I try to export the video it does not give the option to save the video to any location. The app just says exporting then goes back to the editing screen.

I've searched for the video file in file explorer with the modification date when the video was exported with no results. Using Power shell I uninstalled the photos app. I didn't get any feedback from Power shell was finished uninstalling the photos app. After that I reinstalled the app with the store. Of course I repeated the export process I got the same results.

I'm thinking of re-registering the photos app, but I think I'll get the same results. I'm hoping that I don't need to do a in place upgrade. Where should I go next?
