It tends to happen when I'm doing anything CPU intensive (mostly gaming or video editing). As I understand it x124 is usually a hardware error and I have ruled out bad RAM and bad drives. This didn't start until I upgraded my cpu/mb so I'm fairly sure it's one of the two causing it.

Very vital information. Lets be sure about it .... stress test the CPU using Prime95. Prime95 - Stress Test Your CPU - Windows 10 Forums

Also make it sure that the hardware components are not overclocked.

    Let us know the result.

Sorry about the really late reply. I have been trying different things to try and test what could be wrong. Did stress testing with Prime95, AIDA64, and the Intel burn test, each one for at least 12 hours with no overclocking. Not once did I get a BSOD during the testing. Also ran them all with FurMark to possibly try and eliminate a bad PSU.

During the last couple of weeks I have gotten 2 x124 errors while the computer is just sitting at the desktop with nothing running, so that eliminates the only under load crashing.

Forgot to add, after the crash happens the computer restarts and fails to post. If I turn it off and on again it boots up just fine except for one issue I have had since I upgraded parts. It takes about 2-3 seconds after I press the power button for the computer to actually turn on. This happens anytime I try to quickly turn on the computer after a shutdown. It does not do this if it has been sitting off for a while. I have never had this happen with any computer I have ever owned and couldn't find an answer to it online. Could this mean bad motherboard?

Marking thread as solved. The problem appears to be my PSU going bad. When the system is at idle it bounces between 11.8v and 12v. When monitoring it under full load it is actually dropping to as low as 11.1 volts and I suspect it may be dropping lower than this when it finally crashes. I did manage to get it to BSOD during an AIDA64 and FurMark stress test last night.
