  1. Random System Restarts

Having some really strange random system reboots since doing a clean install of Windows 10.

Everything is up to date in terms of system updates.

All my hardware drivers are up to date as well.

It happened just now, where I was just browsing the internet, and all of a sudden without any warning, the system rebooted.

I've been looking at the event logs to try and figure out what's going on, but I'm not sure how to move forward with some of the entries, or even if they are the cause.

This is the most recent critical system log

  2. Tool of block patch KB4074588

Update: I too am having a similar situation, where random keyboard keys will execute a double-key stroke upon single key press.

    So far, I've tried what has been found online;

-Remove KB4074588 - Restart, system appears fine and working in a normal state (no double characters)

-Install KB4090913 (Supposed Fix) - Restart, same symptom is exhibited as KB4074588, typing will generate random double characters

-remove KB4090913 - Restart, system is back to a normal state.

Power off PC, expected to repeat process for FAULTY updates.

-Leave KB4074588, Install KB4090913 - Restart, same issues of double characters on single key press (random keys at random times when typing)

When is MS going to revert the poor situation of which are forced updates on its users back to like that of Windows 7, 8.x, etc...

    Random System Restarts

I think your best option is to set up your system to record dump files of the crash and then you can post these in the BSOD section of the Forum.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5...dows-10-a.html

You may also wish to turn off the automatic restart after a crash so that you can see any error messages that are generated.

Go to Advanced System settings and select start up and recovery settings. There you can turn off the automatic restart.

  5. Didn't realise it was already set to do the above anyway.

I'll see about getting the file on the BSOD thread, although I don't get any BSOD, just a straight up reboot.

OK, but if you are not getting any BSOD then there will not be any dump file to analyse. A straight reboot like that suggests there might be something wrong with your power supply or possibly the CPU or GPU overheating. I would suggest you do some stress tests and monitor temperatures. Look up Furmark and follow the tutorial guidelines paying particular attention to monitoring the temperatures.

Make sure all the fans are working and there is no build up of dust.

  7. I ran Furmark last night for around 2 hours and the GPU never got higher than 46c, and never had any system crashes.

Prime95 was running from around 17:30 till just now when I stopped it, again with no system reboots, so I'm now even more confused than ever *Confused

I can't find anything now that is causing these system hangs.

    Really confusing

Well if it has not happened for 6 days then you may be OK. Keep using it and feel free to post back with any updates if it happens again. There was a further update to windows yesterday so make sure you have received the latest update to bring you to build 10586.494

  10. It's still been happening.

I've just been away since Thursday last week, so haven't been able to update on things.

Got back on Monday night, and had to hard reboot as it had frozen while I was away.

It froze again on Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning and as I've got to it this morning it's frozen again at some point during the night, which is when it's not being used.

All updates are installed, however I'm not seeing the one you mentioned.

Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3173428)
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3172985)

They're the last 2 OS updates from 13/07/16, no new updates as of now "Your device is up to date. Last checked: Today, ‏‎09:28"

Yes you have the latest cumulative update. The build can be found in Settings -> System on the About page.

Please try a memory test just in case this is responsible for the freezes. Run Memtest86+ and make sure it continues for at least 8 passes.
