Lots of times, Secure Boot will need to be off. Not every machine everywhere, I'm sure. But lots of them require it.

Just use separate folders on D:. Macrium won't care a bit, it's smart enough.

Thanks. I found that secure boot does not affect installs with this UEFI. Considering W7 backup remaining, I'm not using MR as of yet. Waiting it out. If/when I need to get it I'll purchase the Pro version.

@Kari and others. In light of a few BSODs in FCU, Insider 17025 acting whacky, problems with instability of Start Screens in both, the summary of events in reliability history below, and reading through log files/events, I’ve decided to redo again. In reading through logs and events, the main problem being is installing with local account then changing to MS account caused many problems with instability, especially with Insider install as seen below.

With Insider problems it also may be due to installing with 17025 ISO as local account then changing to MS account. This time I’m going to use your Windows Insider - Clean install latest Fast Ring build Installation Upgrade Tutorials for Insider install.

Why with my W10 phone and five 10 OSs all signing in with the same MS account, the local account installs just aren’t worth it for me. I’ll just go ahead and install both with MS accounts. As a fanboy that’s ok by me. Not sure when I’ll get to this. I must step out for the day. Hopefully tonight.

And finally, why it gives a history of 10/22 when I installed on 10/29 is beyond me. *Confused

Since first preview versions of Windows 8 which introduced Microsoft Account as Windows sign-in account, I have always created the initial admin account as local account when setting up Windows. I do the same with all later user accounts. This is mainly because my first name only has four letters, the first part of all my emails have four letters thus system automatically adding first letter of last name to profile name and giving me a profile name I do not want to use if account was created as Microsoft account.

In addition, call me an stupid old fart if you want to but I hate it when names and sentences are started with a lower case letter. For instance here on forums I simply ignore all posts written completely in lower case, and if I notice that a member does it always I put him / her to ignore list to avoid seeing this in the future. As the email address is usually written with all lower case, I do not like my user profile name being written with lower case first letter.

Having said that, the very first thing I do when signed in first time to my local account, I'll switch to Microsoft account. I like the integration, versatility and flexibility a Microsoft account brings with it. Me always using a local account to set up user accounts really does not mean I would not like Microsoft account. Quite the opposite, I really love using Microsoft account apart from the fact how user profile is named. I want to use user profile name for my personal account, and to achieve that I must set up my user account as local account.

I have never had any issues with this.

Stupid old fart. I'm just kidding, @Kari. I feel the same way. I even use capitalization and punctuation in phone text messages! I also completely agree with starting with a local account, with my proper user name, John; then switch it to a Microsoft Account login.

You have the same minor issue than I have, a less than five digit first name.

The profile will get proper name when creating user with Microsoft account only if the first name in email (firstname /B].lastname@some_email_provider.com) is exactly five characters, and if the email address was created using upper case first letters like for instance Larry.Laffer@some_emailprovider.com instead of standard L: larry.laffer@some_emailprovider.com.

You old fart, I don't notice other peoples spelling mistakes or preferences, perhaps because i am just interested in the content, not the spelling or grammar.

I said nothing about spelling mistakes or grammar. I couldn't say anything, I'm not a native English speaker meaning it's quite obvious I make both spelling mistakes and grammatical errors myself. On an global, international site like Ten Forums it's understandable not every member has perfect grammar and spelling.

There's no reason not to follow simple civilized rules we all share regardless of our country of origin and language. Names are written with upper case first letter in every language using latin alphabet. Sentence starts with upper case letter. That is courtesy, showing respect to those you want to read your posts.

My responsibility as a member asking help is not only to provide all possible information about my issue but also to make my post as readable and understandable as possible. My responsibility as a member offering help or advice is to make that reply as readable and understandable as possible.
