  1. Remove OneDrive Folders from Libraries?

    Clean install.

Where would it be in GPEdit? I know how to completely disable OneDrive, but again I don't want to do that... I just want to stop it from adding itself to libraries.

Its hard to believe there is nothing in TaskSch about it, it prolly buried in subfolders.

open Run window (win +r) and type gpedit.msc in. I know you dont want to disable it, I'm just wondering if this can be changed at all.

If there is nothing in policies about it, and nothing in the task scheduler, then you might just have to deal with it and leave it, or even contact m$.

  3. In addition to OneDrive, folders named camera roll, pictures, saved pictures, video, etc. - these default libraries pop back into the libraries folder after being deleted. This is without a logoff or restart. They just pop up after a while, like they weren't deleted in the first instance.

These default libraries are in my way. I DO NOT want to spend years visually parsing through default libraries that I don't use or want, all to find what I am actually looking for, work-related libraries (which are difficult enough to deal with as is).

How, then, can you go about permanently removing one or more default libraries? For that matter, also the 'This PC' default folders - don't need those either.

Win10 Pro is what I'm using - is there another version that bakes in the (amazingly basic) functionality that I'm looking for?

    Thankee.

    Remove OneDrive Folders from Libraries?

There are tutorials to remove This PC folders, and I even made a post on how to change those icons. Use your google-fu-zerch-skilz you can find a lot of "needful things" to change to make Win10 your own.

  5. Yeah, using OldNewExplorer I was able to essentially make "this PC" work exactly like Favorites did in Win7, save for OneDrive no longer being there as it has its own tab now. I removed them all but Desktop and Downloads, and enabled Libraries to show up in the sidebar so I have Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos in there instead of This PC.

For now, I just used GPEdit to turn OneDrive off entirely as it's getting super frustrating, at least here at work where I'm using Windows 10 Enterprise on a domain (and previously was on 7 Enterprise with OneDrive installed separately so I could still access my personal files...)

At home I'm on 10 Pro and might tinker around with it some more later. I can confirm that flicking the GPO to enabled fixes the library issue, but it also disables OneDrive entirely which is not what I want. Surely, there's some "happy medium"

@DTG1, it might still be in scheduled tasks, but the big problem is that I can't SEARCH what's in there and there are so many folders it would take me forever to find it. Is there an easier way to view everything that's scheduled, like a big raw list of them all rather than all the subfolders?

  6. Thanks for the snark. How about some help on library default folders that will not stay deleted? Maybe a link, or something. I would appreciate that, DTG1.

  9. Nope. That removes the icon, but the folders still show up in my libraries.

  11. On that note... I noticed that when I inserted a SD card into my laptop, I saw two separate icons. One under "Computer" and then one below "Computer" in its own pane like OneDrive. Any idea why? That's a bit obnoxious, I only need it in there once.

That's hijacking this thread a bit though, and nowhere near as big of an annoyance to me as the OneDrive auto-adding itself to my libraries.

the library folders are handled separately from the folder in This PC. If a folder keep showing up in Libraries, means its still being used for the libraries. That would mean files inside the folders or that the folder has been included in a specific Library folder, it could be shared, even publicly, it might be tagged for All Users too, I dont know all the reasons it could be restored.

I seem to recall there was an annoying service that windows had that would replace and restore all files in certain folders, I forget what it was, I think that was Vista tho.

I came across something that said something about that if OneDrive is set for all users then you cant delete that folder. idk for sure. Like I said before, empty the contents, check settings, check reg settings, delete, and recheck settings, reboot.

Its crap like this that M$ pulls that makes me hate its programs like OneDrive, you cant uninstall it normally, hence the label as malware, now its being used as spyware too. Dropbox doesnt fair much better but atleast you can uninstall it.

The folder will still be there but it will not synchronize the user folders, in otherwords it will not do anything.
