Windows 10: Remove Quick access from Navigation Pane in Windows 10

Double check to make sure that you read and did all of the steps in the tutorial.

 

I really think so... I probably did too mouch! is there any way to completly restore everythink in order to follow the procedure again?

 

To reverse, you would use the add options in the tutorial, but that would be pointless since you're wanting to remove it.

Are you using 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 10?

If you like, post screenshots showing your registry settings for this to see if anything may be wrong.

It seems that you missed doing all of both steps 4 and 5 first.

 

Well, in windows 10, microsoft not only replaced the old "favorites" in navigation pane of explorer with quick access (merging it with recent places), but also merged them with explorer's jump list. It is now not possible to pin some dirs in jumplists without pinning them also in quick access...

So, is there any way to restore the old and independed "favorites" menu in navigation pane? Note that the "links" folder remain into the user folder in windows 10?

I'm not aware of a way to replace Quick access with the old Favorites since that has been completely changed in Windows 10.

However, you could add Favorites to Quick access if you like.

Yup .. Tried again .. still no go .. on HP envy 360
It's ok .. no big deal , I set it to open This PC any way .
It was ok on my Dell XPS though ..

That error is from not having permission, so I'm not sure what else it could be if you did all of steps 4 and 5 on the ShellFolder registry key.

But curious as to the "why" & "how"...

Looking at the SFGAO enumeration, when Quick Access is visible, it has SFGAO_NONENUMERATED set. Reading the description for this flag, one would expect it to hide Quick Access.

Clearing SFGAO_NONENUMERATED & setting SFGAO_NEWCONTENT and SFGAO_STREAM hide Quick Access.

All very cool, but it seems counter-intuitive. Can you explain why this works?
