    restoring windows loop

Hello. Dont know if this is the right place to make a new thread but i'll give it a shot.

Yesterday i turned off my stationaire computer pressing the on/off switch manually. When i started my computer this morning it told me that there was a problem when the computer was turned off. I tried to start the computer normally in any way possible but could'nt so i tried to restore the computer to an earlier point.

The only thing happening now is that it starts, the windows logo popps up and loads. Then the screen shows: "computer restoring to a previous version of windows..." then shuts off after 2 seconds of that screen and does the same thing again.

I had windows 7 earlier and got the free update for windows 10 a couple of months ago. I do not have a windows cd either. Anything i can do to abort the restoring? I have no clue.

    Thanks.

    :)

  2. Why when I apply my windows update for windows 10 does my raid get disabled on my BIOS

When I apply an update on windows my raid is disabled on the bios and it changes back to ahci.

Once I re-enable the raid the windows update then goes into a restore from previous restore point loop. This loop is taking longer and longer to complete.

rollback windows 10 to 7 "restoring your previous version of windows" restart loop

After starting the rollback process to remove Windows 10 and restore back to Windows 7 I'm in an endless loop where I get the message "restoring your previous version of windows" on a black screen for about 6 minutes with some hard drive activity. Then
the laptop restarts and goes back to this same message. This loop has been going on for a couple of hours now. Is this how the restore is supposed to work? If not, how do I break it out of this loop and get back on track?

Hi can you explain please why you turned your computer off that way.
    Normally you should use either
Start which is in bottom left hand corner
    Then Right Click
    Then Click Power Options
    Or Start
    Right Click
    Scroll down to
    Shut down or sign out
    Then click >
    Then Shut down
As the way you have shut down you have corrupted your windows 10

Try and start into safe mode
    By starting and shutting down
    Three times

Follow this link and see if this helps you at all

    Thank you for replying.

I have always used the manual button to switch off the computer, but never again.

Tried to start in safemode but it starts again with the restoring.

The thread you replied is how i got into this mess in the first place, i tried to restore and it went into the loop. And now im stuck. Should i buy a windows 10 cd and boot the cd installing windows 10?

  6. Always a bad way to shut down as you have found out to your cost.
If you have tried the link I gave you then I believe the only way now is buy a windows CD
Or wait and see if anyone else can come up with a solution
Did you try and shut down 3 times
As a lot of options should appear
Also have you tried SFC /scannow
SFC Command - Run in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
You will have to use the Command Prompt Admin

Do you have access to another computer or laptop to do a complete clean install of windows 10
    If you have click on

The thing is, i cant go past the startup windows logo. So basically the only thing i can do is enter the options for the motherboard. I cant enter any kind of command promt or anything. I tried to find a solution in the options for the motherboard. But there is nothing i can do. And it doesnt work starting thw computer i safe mode.

Only thing i know how to do is buy a new harddrive and a new windows 10. Anything else i can try?

    restoring windows loop

    Hey alweb92-

As long as your current version of Win-10 was activated after the upgrade, then I think you should be able to simply download a Win-10 ISO image, burn it to a flash or DVD, then do a clean install. I'm a bit unclear as to how far into the boot sequence you get to, but if you can access the BIOS and change the boot sequence, then I think you should be fine.

    See here:
How to Clean Install Windows 10

In your situation, I don't know if you'll need the product key or not. I've read both. If you're able to find your old Win-7 key, that might be good to have on hand. If not, and if a keycode is required, then see HERE for additional information.

    alweb92,

You have Win 10 already installed and I am assuming that it is also activated.
If so, you are "digital entitled". Meaning you can reinstall your version of Win 10 in the same computer as often as you want, any time you want.
All you need is the Win 10 ISO file.

Follow b1rd instructions to do a Clean Install.

During the Clean Install, you will be asked for a product key. Use the SKIP option and continued.
    Activation will be automatic.
