Windows 10: Signing my Account out of my old PC but keeping all documents and files

Hello,


My dad has taken possession of my old PC with my Microsoft Account still logged in. He has his own business and would like to keep all the files, documents and pictures already saved in my documents from my account. He is afraid that having my Microsoft account on my old PC would cause problems for me because my Microsoft account is also linked to the Galaxy Book I am currently using.


I tried adding his own account on my old PC, but that didn't have all the files that are currently in my old PC's log in from my account. How do I change the Microsoft Account to my dad's from my old PC while still having the current documents that are present on the PC from my account? I also saw that I can add a family member in my Microsoft Account. Is that a good alternative in sharing the files from my old PC between my account and my dad's? I need all the help I can get.

Local Acct user and MS account user - sync them or merge them


If the local account is the one where you have most of your personal data, this is how I would do it:

• Sign in to your Microsoft account
  
• Copy all documents, pictures and other personal data from Microsoft account's user folders to corresponding folders in user Public (contents of MS account Documents folder to Public Documents folder and so on)
• Sign out from Microsoft account

Notice that above steps are only required if Microsoft account user folders contain data you want to keep. If its user folders are empty or do not contain anything worth saving, you can skip the above steps. Continue from below.

• Sign in to the local account
  
• Delete the Microsoft account (Option One in this tutorial)
• Switch your local account to a Microsoft account (tutorial)
• Copy the data backed up from old Microsoft account to Public folders to new Microsoft account in corresponding folders

That's it. Using the Public folders as temporary storage you will have none whatsoever file owner / permission issues later on.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>Accounts.
• In the left pane, click on sign-in options.
• In the right pane select Never from the drop down list for the option
  Require sign-in.
