Windows 10: Startup slowed to a crawl

Hi Everyone, I haven't been here for quite some time. About a week ago something changed with my Windows 10 startup. Everything seems to begin smoothly until the final blue screen finishes. There was usually a slight pause before the desktop appears but now just before my desktop appears, the screen goes totally black for about 3-4 minutes. I have no idea what may have caused this. Has anyone come across this problem before?

Glad not just me finding windows 10 slow. I have version 1511 [I believe] and having no end of problems [support say they know there's a problem with this version but no idea how long to rectify] Had problems with emails, still have problems being unable
to use Hub - useless, so many different little niggles beginning to regret upgrading.

Would be nice if Microsoft kept customers informed when they know there's a particular problem instead of leaving us to struggle. Really disappointed.

I recently installed windows 10 on an HP Presario from Windows 7. Initially the laptop worked pretty normally but after a recent update it now takes as much as 20 minutes to get past the initial windows logo. And when the sign in screen shows up, it is
very slow getting to the home screen. Once that happens however, the laptop operates normally. There are no sleep mode problems, etc.

Is there a specific windows update that has been identified as producing this sort of problem? At this point I'm considering doing a total reinstall of windows 10 but worried about my data, even with a backup.

Diagnostics Test

Clean boot
Please try the following:

• Open taskmanager
  • Go to the tab startup
  • disable everything
• Search msconfig and open it
  • Go to the tab services
  • Check 'hide microsoft services'
  • Uncheck all other services
  • Click apply and click ok
• Reboot if asked

See if the problem persist, if the problem does not persist enable in the startup tab in taskmanager 1 item and in the services tab in msconfig also 1 service, reboot and see if the problem persist. Keep doing this until you find the culprit or there is nothing left.
If the problem still persist, try booting in safe mode and see if the problem still persist
