Windows 10: stuck in safe mode

HELP
i was given an asus laptop to repair(upgraded from win 8.1 to win 10).
it was full of pups and at least 7 viruses. malwarebytes found them (517) but when asked to remove them it came back in an instance with "no items deleted your computer is safe).After several more efforts it came back with same message.
in between this i was getting the message from defender your computer is at risk but defender is dealing with them.

i eventualy got into safe mode can`t remeber how.to try defenders offline scanner. it came back with more bugs and system is safe.
after several re-starts i t will know only boot up in safe mode.
i have all the restore points on the system and reset to factory. and it still keeps booting in safe mode.
is there anywere in safe mode to force it back to normal ie boot option menu i can not find ?
i am now trying to use sfc /scannow in command promt but its still running.

any help please.

I entered Safe Mode by using Shift +Restart, selecting Troubleshooting,

This took me to a box Admin:cmd.exe

Inside this box was

C:/Windows/system32>

I closed this box and now I have simply a black screen with white cursor.

Windows + R gets no response.

Can anyone help?

I'd like to get more information regarding this so we could further check and provide a more established workaround.

Were you having other issues prior to starting in safe mode?

Based on the sequence your system is in, follow the path I've listed below to sort the issue:

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete key to open
Task Manager.

2. In the Task Manager window, click on File and select Run new task.

3. Type in cmd.exe and make sure that the Create this task with administrative privileges check box is
ticked.

4. Click OK. Then, type the command below into the Command Prompt window:

bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

5. Reboot your computer.

Check if the issue persists.

Also, Win+R key to bring up run dialog. Then run MSCONFIG. Boot tab. Uncheck the box for safe mode.

 

Just reintsall Windows 8.1 and then upgrade. All that malware will just make things a headache to upgrade if it even works. Further, if you do manage to clean it up, the swiss-cheese-state of the OS would cause subtle bugs and problems that only someone that had a very intimate knowledge of that installation could have any chance of debugging in a reasonable amount of time.


Well unless you value your time at pennies an hour, or are getting paid on the clock, then by all means take your time.

but i have eventually found it in:-

start
windows admin tools

system config.
it then gives you the boot options.

I am now back chasing the virus (whitch seems to only only affecting the internet browsers i think).

thank you for efforts anyway.
I shall give it rest for a day then start afresh.
