Windows 10: Trying to update to 1909, but always get the 0x80070002 error, even after clearing...

This has been going on for a long time. Nothing seems to work. I even ran the Update Troubleshooter, which found a few problems, fixed them, and after running the update, I still got the error. Any geniuses out there have any ideas about what I can do short of reinstallation which I won't do?

Error 0x80070002 when trying to update Windows

I have been having issues for months with Windows 10 updates failing due to Error 0x80070002 on my gaming laptop. The full message reads:

2019-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4503286) -Error 0x80070002.

I am currently on version 1803 (OS Build 17134.590) and I'm being told "You're currently running a version of windows that's nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements."

I have followed the instructions on Error Code 0x80070002 Fixed – Eassos Step-by-Step Tutorial but this hasn't resolved the problem. Does anybody know how to fix this?

 

Error: 0x80070002 - Unable to Install/Update Windows Store Apps on Win 10 - 1909

Hi there, I'm trying to find a solution to Error: 0x80070002, which appears while trying to download any new app OR, update any existing app in windows store. The error pops up as soon as the store shows "Downloading". I'm currently using Windows 10 Version
1909.

I've tried multiple "fixes" including date/time, resets, turning on/off system processes & clearing data, windows update (Which appears to be functioning,) system restore and troubleshooting.

Any other ideas?

Hi that article is a bit fuzzy and old, even referring to a Fixit tool... long long ago in a Windows far away...

1. What does the WU troubleshooter actually report?




2. If that fails, please try this:
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

Then try the troubleshooter again.

If that fails, check basics: please run
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or powershell prompt.

If that fails, post back. If ok then
sfc /scannow
from an admin command or powershell prompt.

Please advise the summary result.

If ok, retry Windows Update.

Note that MS's policy at end of life is, assuming your system is deemed compatible, to apply the relevant feature update (build upgrade).
