This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off caret browsing in the Mail app for your account in Windows 10.


EXAMPLE: Caret browsing turned on and off








Here's How:

1. Open the Mail app.

2. Click/tap on the Settings icon at the bottom left, and click/tap on Reading pane in the Settings flyout. (see screenshot below)



3. In the Reading pane flyout under Caret browsing, turn on (default) or off Use the caret to navigate within a message for what you want. (see screenshot below)

Caret Browsing prompt

I ticked to box on the caret browsing prompt to stop being asked if I wanted to use caret browsing or not and to use F7 instead.

Would anyone know HOW I may reinstate this option please (If there is a video available also, it would be a bonus)

The way shown on some routes is to go through the ... at top right- Then to "Settings" - Then to "View Advanced Settings" and select "Caret Settings" which is just below "Use Adobe Flash" BUT as you can see on my route, the "Caret Settings" choice is missing.

(I have looked at Open other sites in Apps but this proved to be a false trail.

As a result I am at a loss to know where else to look for this. Hence my question.

arrow keys instead of the mouse. If the message to turn on Caret Browsing pops up, you will see a blue border on either
Yes or No. Use use the left or right arrow keys to change the selection, and then press
Enter to confirm your choice. You can also use the Tab
key on the keyboard.

How do I turn off Windows 10 Mail Caret Interpolation

The windows 10 mail and calendar app designers decided it would be a good idea to introduce the appearance of lag when typing a mail message in windows 10 by making the caret move slowly from one position to the next!!!

It's super annoying and I cant find where to turn this idiotic behaviour off.

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
