Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10

    Hello @Fugazi666, *Smile

You might also check to make sure that the On resume, display logon screen box is unchecked in your screen saver settings to rule that out.

Thanks Brink, but that was one of the first things I did *Wink

I'm now looking at trying to track power changes and when the screen comes back on run a small vbs script to push a return key stroke to the system which works if you don't have a password set.

  3. Hello

Just signed up to this forum as I have a problem. I followed this guide to remove the sign-in prompt through the power options, but something has gone wrong somewhere. I downloaded and used a couple of those registry files, but the first one I tried was wrong, I think. Either way, I think it may have altered something. Last night when I brought my system out of stand-by it still asked me to sign in. I went back to the power options and the 'Require a password on wake-up' had been turned on again. But clicking the blue link that says 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' now tells me 'Some settings are managed by your system administrator'. But I am the administrator. *Sad
Because I'm using Windows 10 Home Edition I don't have the Group Policy Editor to adjust things, though I did install it, but the Power Management category is missing. If it's a registry tweak that needs to be done, I'm not sure what.

    Any ideas?

Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10

Hello Dusty, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

If you used Option 4 or 5, that would explain the "some settings are managed..." message. Those options are for setting this by group policy.

You should be able to still use step 4 in Option 5 to disable require sign-in on wakeup.

  5. I'm afraid this isn't working either. *Sad But now I've found out that scannow has found corrupt files it's unable to fix. So this could be related. Not very happy about this as I've just recently reformatted my PC because I had the same problem. >_>

  7. Ran the Windows 10 setup and did a repair, ie: reinstalled Windows with all my programs and files intact.

The Require sign-in under settings doesn't offer any options as I don't have a password set. I typed in netplwiz under Run and unticked the box for 'Users must enter a username and password to use this computer'.

After that repair the power options won't let me change my power plan at all now. Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10 o_O

No password would be why you're unable to change the "Require sign-in" in Settings.

Unchecking "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" in netplwiz shouldn't cause you to get that message in Power Options. Did you set a group policy (ex: via Registry Editor) that affected power options?

  9. Since doing a repair I no longer have Group Policy Editor, but I couldn't change anything in that anyway as there was never a Power Management category. Something has clearly gone wrong in the registry somewhere, but I'm not sure how or what to fix. I suspect I'm going to have to do another reformat and wipe everything off again. *Sad

EDIT: Just restarted the PC and now the power options has a red cross saying 'Your power plan information isn't available'. >_<

It does look like you did a lot of customizing. Usually it will be a policy set that causes you to see the "Some settings are managed by your system administrator" message.

Which of the options does NOT require having a password as I do NOT have one.

    Many thanks.

Option 2 is not available any more.
Option 3 does not work (any more?) before restarting the machine, which makes it useless.
    Same for option 5.
The only option working (without restarting the machine) is option 1, but this cannot be simply called in a script. I now made a workaround with an AutoIt script to call the settings window and send the keys automatically required to change the value, but it is not really smart.

If someone knows a method to turn on or off sign-in on wakeup without the need to restart the machine, please let me know.
