Unable to load installation media from usb, + Er 2000-0151, Dell Insp

    Hi all,
My dell Inspirion froze, and when I tried to reboot I got the endless loading recovery media.
Running diagnosis, I got dell error 2000-0142
Msg: Hard Drive 0 -S/N WXH1E450VAEA, Short self test unsuccessful.
I loaded up my USB Win10 install, however it would not let me install it on the Harddrive, and showed the HD as having nothing on it and wouldnt let me format it as well.

One of my techie relatives had a look and has given me a new Hardive, however when I load up my usb install and select 64 bit on the win install it just takes me to a blank screen.
A normal restart just leaves the screen on the spinning dell wheel or a blank screen.
Running diagnostics I got Error 2000-151.
    I found this:
"It's because the NVMe drivers for our SSD's aren't supported by the BIOS diagnostics utility yet. If you (temporarily) switch the HDD mode to AHCI before running the utility, it will go away. Just be sure you switch back to raid before booting back into your OS."
On another forum, however I have no idea how to do that.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or has any advice:? Much appreciated.

    :)

You say you got a new hard drive from a friend, and yet there is talk about an NVMe SSD.... is there an SSD in the computer?

Ah good point, I was just looking for a fix for the 0151 error and missed that. The hardrive is similar to my old one and is not a Solid State Drive.

Look at my quote in the middle of the OP to this thread:
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

I would replace the boot.wim file on the Windows 10 USB flash drive with the boot.wim file from Kyhi's recovery tools. Make sure all unnecessary items are disconnect from the computer - only keyboard, mouse and monitor should be connected. Plug the USB flash drive into a black (USB 2.0) USB port on the back of the computer that is off the motherboard itself (front USB ports are usually off a cable attached to a port on the motherboard). See if the computer will boot into Kyhi's recovery tools and you can get onto the internet to post a screenshot of disk management:

    Thanks for the link!
I replaced then .wim, and selected to boot from the USB. It still comes up with the same chose 64 or 32 bit for instalation.
After selecting 64 bit, it came up with:
"Windows has failed to start, a recent software or hardware change may be causing this problem"
Screen went black after 30 seconds and laptop shutdown. I restarted it and now its on the Win10 logo then preping automatic repair.
After a while it comes up with a bluescreen saying:

    Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired.
    Error code: 0xc0000185

(for some reason these forums won't let me post images from a link or upload -_-)

Thanks for all your help and sorry for the bother.

I must've missed something or theres something quite wrong with my laptop I presume. I've had its hardrive replaced twice in the past, 1st time after a nasty bang. My previous hardrive seemed to be fine untill it suddenly broked despite the laptop having been stationary for 6 months.
I have also reinstalled and formatted hardrives on my other PC with my USB installation before.

A bit of progress, Ive found that I can run the win setup by booting the USB under Leagcy, and then selecting 32 bit.
Going to Custom Install from there, Ive formatted the hardrive, but I still get a pop-up saying:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of GPT partion style
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The disk may fail soon. If other hard disks are avalible, install Windows to a different location"

Its a new Hardrive, and I installed it following the manual so I really doubt it's just about to 'fail'. Considering the laptops past history I wouldn't be surprised if the internal connection between the Hardrive connector and the rest of the laptop is borked.
Would installing Windows and running it off an external hardrive work:? (Not ideal, but if it works).

    Thanks once again

Boot from the USB flash drive. Then I think the next option might be 32 or 64 bit, so select 32 bit. When you get to the first blue screen that is asking for languages, press shift + F10 to open a command prompt. Then run:

    diskpart
    list disk
select disk # <- replace # with the actual number for the hard drive, this should be 0
clean <- this will erase the selected disk - make sure it is the hard drive and not the USB drive!
    exit
    exit

Then select the custom install option when you get to it. Then on the next screen, select the unallocated space on the hard drive and click next.

For some reason this time it let me boot off UFEI into my USB, and from that I selected 64 bit. Now it's loaded this alien version of windows I've never seen before Unable to load installation media from usb, + Er 2000-0151, Dell Insp o_O....
I am utterly confused and perplexed XD But it's loaded onto the desktop and it has various utility apps installed. I presume this is part of Kyhi's recovery tools.

Yes, that is Kyhi's Recovery Tools. There are a couple of utilities on there that you can use to check the hard drive. To run Windows setup from within Kyhi's Recovery Tools you would open file explorer, find the USB flash drive that is inserted, and run setup.exe from the x64 folder on it (since you have a dual "bit" USB flash drive setup and, apparently, Kyhi's recovery tools in the 64-bit side).

    Thanks!
    The disk clean worked perfect.
When the install finished it had to restart, when it did an error popped up:

    Recovery

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired

The operating systems couldn't be loaded because a registered file is missing or contains errors
    File:WMILIB.SYS
    Error code: 0xc000007b

Defiantly progress though, thanks for your expertise so far, I really appreciate it Navy!

I would say either the laptop has a hardware problem, or the USB flash drive is bad. When did you make the flash drive?

I used it to install win 10 on another laptop as well.
I was in safe mode before, I also got a pop up saying I had to restart out of safe mode to complete instalation.
It has since made a variety of noises, restarted about 5 times and is now in the setup phase.

Edit: Now I'm at my desktop, everything seems to be working just fine *Biggrin
    Thank you sooooo much Navy!!!
My laptop now loads in about 5 seconds, which is a huge improvement over 2 minutes.

Only one thing is still missing though (sorry for the bother!), the WiFi adaptor isn't there (e.g can't access wireless hotspots or see them).
This isn't a new problem, I have just had to tether internet through usb cable instead.
The error occured when I orgionaly tried to upgrade to Windows 10, it stuffed my laptop up and I had to downgrade it back to 8.1. Somewhere during that the WiFi adaptors disapeared,(I checked device manager, not there and I couldn't find a way to update/install them).
