Windows 10: unable to obtain Windows 10 1511 Build 10586

Hello,

I have 5 laptops and all of them have the latest windows 10 update which is 1511 except one that has not received that update and I am wondering if there's way to get it on this laptop ?

unable to Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3103688), after upgrading to build 10586, version-1511 which was upgraded successfully. Only showing downloading option with 0% all time.
How to solve this problem?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

1511 is the Operating System Version and 10586 is the Build Number. That shouldn't confuse you. Both of these is what comprises the November update or the latest Windows update as of now. So basically anyone upgrading to Windows 10 would see Build no as
10586 installed on the computer. It is not that 1511 was offered but it ends up with 10586. If you have Build 10586, then you have the latest update installed.

Download the ISO from Tech Bench, double click on the ISO to mount it then double click on setup.exe

While I prefer to make USB/DVDs from the ISOs so I will have them for future use lx07 posted.... the other alternative is just to click the upgrade now button:

Thanks, I didn't know about that one. I clicked on it and it created at $Windows.~GWX and $Windows.~WS directories (the second containing installx64.esd. After the "upgrade" button the next I got was the license and then a standard repair install.

It would make a few tutorials redundant if everything just works as easy as that *Smile

Been reading your posts on this link, as I didn't know about this method either till yesterday, thanks to NavyLCDR. Just to verify using this method is the same as doing a repair install, where the user does not lose their installed programs/apps correct ??

It is exactly a repair install. I just did it.

Normally I'm rather randomly generous with the "thumbs up" button but he deserved it for that. Click the link, click "upgrade now" and that is it.

If MS make everything as easy as that there will be no need for tutorials. (Don't suppose they will though *Wink )

Correct. All the above methods above will upgrade it to version 1511 build 10586.0 then Windows Update should do cumulative updates to get you to 10586.71 (or whatever the latest minor version is).

No, you'll keep them with the exception that there are a couple of programs which are removed by the upgrade process however you do it. Speccy for example.
