Windows 10: Unstable system

There are a few things you can try:

• General clean up of programs
  Download and run cCleaner Free
  Run both the Cleaner and Registry functions - clean everything in the results list
  Also run the Tools > Uninstall function to get a list of installed software - don't uninstall anything yet,
  --> click the Save to text file in the lower right corner, then attach the output text file to a post. Members can advise on possible software to uninstall
  
  
• Double click the Win10 ISO to mount it - make note of the drive letter
  
  Right click the Windows icon
  
  (aka Start button) on the Taskbar
  Select Command Prompt (Admin)
  
  Enter the following lines in the Command Prompt window:
  Note: Replace E with the drive letter of your mounted ISO
  
  Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:E:\sources\install.wim:2 /limitaccess
  
  SFC /ScanNow
  If there are any errors on the screen after the commands run,
  Navigate to C:\Windows\Logs
  Right click the CBS folder
  Select Send to > Compressed (zip) folder
  answer yes to place on DesktopAttach the zip folder to your next post

  Run DISM in Command Prompt
  Run SFC /ScanNOW in Command Prompt
  
  
• Experimental - I have not tried this
  Double click the Win10 ISO to mount it
  Extract all to a new folder
  In the new folder, open sources\install.wim using 7-zip
  Delete the folder named 1
  exit 7-zip - save if prompted
  
  Navigate up one level
  Select the new folder
  Burn to disc

 

Been another hectic few days here. Just signed up for vocational rehab. How is the sfc /scannow command different in post #29 vs the one mentioned earlier in the thread? Didn't that one scan everything? Just a heads up I did have one more "long" boot, but booting, specifically from Toshiba's splash screen to time I'm at desktop takes hardly anytime at all now. Ran the scannow 3 times, never found an error. I still have to run CCleaner, been a bit lazy doing that as I keep getting a message there's an upgrade to perform, and I want to do that first. Spending more time working on resume' and doing aptitude tests for case worker home work.... Have a family to support, have to set my priorities right?

 

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while. I've been having some networking issues that popped up sudden like. I will take advice mentioned here and move them question over to installation and set-up section as I still want to burn off the iso I've downloaded onto disc. I was lucky a few days back Was over at Walgreens a few days ago and they had some DVD+R's on their discontinue shelf for $2 for 20 of them! Can't beat that!!! Folks mentioned I can't use the RW's and I'd just as soon keep those for burning movies anyways.

Anyways, I wish to thank you all for the help in this thread, I'm going to mark this solved now. Then run over to the network forum for help there! OY! computers! They've been driving me nuts since I first tried programming a commie 64 in high school in the 80's!
