Windows 10: Upgrading to Pro but it says Home on install wizard

Bought a W10 Pro licence yesterday to upgrade from W10 Home. Just running the install wizard and i'm getting:

"Ready to install. To recap you've chosen to install Windows 10 Home."

Just a text error do we think or something more sinister? I don't want to go through the whole process only to replace Home with Home!

Are you performing a clean install or just want to upgrade the existing Windows 10 Home install to Pro? If you just want to upgrade the existing Windows 10 Home install, use the Easy Upgrade wizard with the Pro key.

I did a clean install of windows 10 home and bought upgrade to pro. Upgrade goes through but at restart says, (can't complete upgrade, attempting to undo changes) and upon on logging in I notice my windows 10 home is now deactivated and if I attempt
upgrade again, it says not compatible with this version of Windows. What is issue?

 

You can download ShowKeyPlus from here Showkey - Windows 10 Forums and use it to check the key is indeed for Pro.

 

Thanks, that certainly seems to say it's a Pro licence. Just trying to chat to MS support too.

 

I've not upgraded, always had Pro from the start, but I thought you just put the key as described here Upgrade Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro - Windows 10 Forums rather than have to install anything.

 

Yes, it would seem I did it wrong. They're refunding me the big licence fee I paid yesterday and i'm just about to start the (easy) upgrade now.
