Windows 10: Why didnt windows enable trim on my drives

I created a ReFS storage pool in windows 10 pro with 2 Samsung 850 pro 512gb ssd's but when I ran the trim check it returned
"ReFS DisableDeleteNotify is not currently set"
These drives were previously installed as C: (os drive) and D: (secondary drive) with trim enabled on both in NTFS.
Why didnt windows enable trim on my drives when I created the ReFS storage pool with them??? and
Is it ok to enable trim on them now?

Why do you have unallocated disk space on Disk 0 and Disk 1?

Wheter you use a SSD or HDD you'll have to disable TRIM; the Booklet chipset can't handle TRIM commands... TRIM is enabled at your booklet; that's why it's slow...

 

For windows to enable Trim, SATA should be in AHCI mode. In Disk Management, are they recognized as SSD ?

 

Yes they are in AHCI. Do you mean device manager? if so then yes, I didnt know disk management specifies disk type just says disk drives/local disk in disk management.

btw Is it a bad idea to save games to a storage pool?

 

According to the link befow that means TRIM support for SSDs with ReFS is not currently set, but will automatically be enabled if a SSD with ReFS is connected.

What happens if you enable it with fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify ReFS 0

 

I use Samsung Magician Software to enable it on my system.

 

It enabled with that command I was just wondering why trim wasnt enabled automatically when I created the ReFS storage pool, especially since when both these drives were connected individually (not ReFS) trim was enabled on both.

Out of interest why are you using ReFS for games? I'd have thought NTFS would be quicker and it supports compression...

 

Good question, I just filled my Samsung 850 evo 1tb with games and bought a new Samsung 960 pro NVMe to use as my os drive so I figured I would use my 2 x samsung 850 pro 512's to store more games.
Then I figured it might be easier to create a storage pool so I dont have my games spread across 3 "seperate" drives and read that ReFS was better than NTFS so I chose it when I created the pool, but I havent actually read up on it as of yet (probably should do that).

I actually havent downloaded any games to the storage pool yet I just figured as I buy more games thats where I would put em but I recently read online that some people were having issues running their games from a storage pool so more research is definately needed.

I may end up deleting the storage pool or sell them and buy another 1tb ssd instead.
