Windows 10: Win 10 SCU Clean Install?

Can I delay these type of updates, running Windows Home?

 

Nope.

I don`t use Home, if there are ways, I`m sure someone will post them.

In the meantime, if you want to post a shot of Disk Management and tell us what you think is wrong, we can easily fix it.

You're probably right about that.
I should have went with the Pro version, but at the time.
I didn't think I needed the Pro features.

 

I didn't have a choice on either of my two PC with Home or Pro Windows 10, they both had win7 pro lol.

That being said, I would have gotten Pro if I had the choice.

 

Why are you so anxious to get it ?

I wen't out and purchased Windows 8.1 Home when it first came out.
At that time, I wasn't thinking Windows 10 was ever going to be a reality.
Boy was I wrong about that.
Of course I went for the upgrade and why not.

Nothing really.
I'm more anxious about sorting out my C drive's partitions,
with a clean install and way not do it with the latest OS.
I guess I could always just do a clean install, using the available installation media.

 

I don't really see anything in the SCU that makes me yell "I NEED IT". My desire for it, is to just be up to date so if MS releases a new CU soon after saying you must have the SCU to get this update blah blah.

I honestly would like to wait until I can afford a new Samsung SSD to replace my older Mushkin that is older than me in HDD years, before I clean install the SCU from the MCT. I doubt I will be able too though.

It was reported in post #45 of that thread that the registry settings work in Home too.

I'm not a big fan of hacking the registry.
If it were meant to be, I wouldn't need to use a registry hack.
The whole idea of a Pro and Home version, to me seems dumb, but I'm not the CEO of Microsoft.

 

Like I said, if you want to post a shot of Disk Management and tell what you think is wrong, we can easily fix it with Partition Wizard.

It's not really a hack, all you are doing in this case is changing registry settings that can be changed in Pro using the Setting app, but in Home that part of the Settings app has been removed so you are stuck with the defaults. Still, if editing the registry makes you nervous then it's safest not to.

As for Home vs. Pro, the main point of Pro is the ability to join a Domain, something very few (if any) home users need.

I'd rather not make changes to the registry, if I can help it.
The way I feel, is that I shouldn't have the need to go into the registry in the first place.
