Windows 10: win defender is turned off

i noticed win defender is turned off. although i have avast anti virus, should i turn it back on?*Shock

whats going on Norton and windows defender in windows 10 is shut down.

I have a similar problem , saying both windows defender & avg anti virus are turned off , click report & click to turn on avg , still reports both off , go to security & maintainance & shows security that both win defender & avg turned off , no matter
how many times click turn on avg warning message simply does not change ( win defender periodic scanning is turned on as an extra mark & updated @ regular times ) is this another win 10 spurious problems reporting a problem when there is'nt one .

Get rid of any and all 3rd party anti virus, security, cleanup, and driver update programs Completelyusing their uninstalling tools.

Windows 10 does not like them.

The best security is between the chair and the computer. Do not click on any link that you do not know. If it says it is from your Email provider look at the address. It may be from another country.

When you download a program get it only from the program maker and make sure to clear any checks for other software.

 

No. Defender is meant to turn its real-time protection off to avoid conflicts if another AV is installed. It can however still do limited periodic scans (which don't cause a problem for the other AV). As far as I am aware (as I don't use any other AV) the default is to do limited periodic scans when you use another AV for the real-time protection.
