Windows 10: Windows 10 AU 1607: Icon Text Left Justified

The programs I use such as from Microsoft, Corel WordPerfect, LibreOffice, Notepad, Notepad++, Browsers, etc., don't have a problem with Justification of text within them.

 

So you are complaining about something that you have no knowledge of. Why don't you try it first, you may like it. I do and I have no such problem that you are describing. I am sure that MS has more important issues to address.

 

More important than fixing their OS? Yeah, it's believable that they are so incompetent.
And don't tell him to try it. It's a broken update.

You are mistaken. The problem does not exist in the Creators Update. I get it, you don't like Windows 10 or the CU, but stop making stuff up to prove your point.

All too often, problems relating to File Explorer are because you have installed an extension of some sort. Sometimes these extensions are installed without your knowledge (for instance, WinRAR and 7zip and what not install shell extensions) A lot of people just automatically install their extensions right away in a new build and never think about it, then go to test it and they keep having the problem after a clean install because they didn't test right out of the box.. Are you certain that your crash isn't related to a third party product?

 

I was asking whether it has been addressed that's all. I haven't tried it because I have not been offered Creators Update via Windows Update yet (my preferred method of receiving it). Admittedly I would be frustrated if it isn't fixed. Anyway sincere apologies to you. It was wrong to complain and even worse not to try it out before asking. Will definitely be taking much greater care over future posts.

 

As far as I was aware this is a design change not an error - the old Centralised text is still in place on the desktop but all other File Manager folders show the new left alignment.

I know that in some cases the left alignment does not work, but this also applies on occasion to the centre justification so it could just be a change taking time to get used to thing *Confused

Does that mean that the only known issue is Microsoft's own oblivion?? Because quite frankly Windows 10 at the moment is a trainwreck of inconsistencies. Don't get me started on the Control Panel and Settings mess.

 

That text is more akin to 'There are no known side-effects of taking this pill' rather than 'Taking this pill cures all manner of problems'.

 

I'm running Windows 10 1703 build 15063 and confirm having the issue also -- seems still lingering apparently (whether considered as an intended feature or not).

I applied the fix recommended by Nersmerkin in post #81 which points at the following Microsoft Answer forum post:

which in turn provides instructions in Spanish to correct this by safekeeping registry hive/keys and running a batch file to recreate them.

This *did fix* it for me i.e. restore the former centered behaviour for the text under mid-sized icons in Windows Explorer, as it also did for others in this thread !
