Windows 10: Windows 10 fails to upgrade from build 1803 to 1903

I have a bit of a complicated issue here. I have a fully up to date Windows 10 Pro computer. Aside from 1809, Windows Update works normally.

I have tried updating within Windows Update (when it was offered), the Update Assistant tool and a Windows 10 1809 ISO image. The result is always the same.


There was an issue with another update similar to this a long time ago.


I have updated every driver one at a time, via Device Manager.

I've run chkdsk.

I've run "/sfc scannow".

I've removed every USB drive.

I previously had MalwareBytes, but I removed it completely and tried using only Windows Defender.

I have tried to solve it doing steps using multiple articles including this: https://windows101tricks.com/error-0xc1900101-updating-windows-10/


I've run SetupDiag.exe but I cannot make sense of the debugging with the results. I also cannot find any other person with the same problem.


Is there anyone out there that has any other ideas of how to solve the problem?

I forgot to add exactly how it fails.


The initial setup works normally until it needs to reboot. The computer reboots several times and gets to 60% complete, and then I get error that tells me that Windows could not configure one or more components, etc. and then the only option it gives me is to reboot. After I reboot, it successfully reverts the update and takes things back to the way they were before.


I have the SetupDiagResults log file and the file associated with it that it talks about in the log. I can send it via email.


I have been fighting this for a few days and am trying to update before support is ended. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Win 10 1803 to 1903 update

My Desktop computer running Win 10 updated from version 1803 to 1903 a while back, but my Desktop running Win 10 version 1803

I'm assuming the update 1803 to 1903 has now resumed after the earlier problems caused a suspension?

Any thoughts, suggestions?

As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.


I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.
