And he isn't going to be able to do that with his current monitor connected.

  2. Which makes no sense, considering he's running Win 7 on it. Why would his monitor or his driver change just attempting to boot a USB drive?

Anyway, all is kneel if he doesn't upgrade first and then do a clean install as suggested in my previous post.

Because booting from the USB drive uses the software that is on the USB drive to determine what hardware is connected and is going to use the drivers on the USB drive for that hardware - booting from the USB is not going to use the drivers on the hard drive on the computer nor the settings that are set on the computer.

While booting from your flash drive hit F8 a couple of times while loading files. After that you'll get a screen and you can choose low res. option.

    Hope this solves your problem

    Jeez.

Looking back over this, I'm at a loss.

Poor reading comprehension on my part. If the OP was booting from a USB flash drive, the signal would be expected to be in range for most monitors.

How you'd break that, I don't know. Buggered EDID? Try a different cable, or a different monitor, or both.

  7. Going around in circles with this.
Only way to get a display is to reinstall 10 and use the old default drivers.
    At least 10 times now.
This happens with my shuttle on Nivida drivers and my laptop with AMD drivers.
Both were perfect on 8.1 to this LCD TV.
It needs to run at 1280 720.
The drivers always set it out of range.
With the laptop i can get a display if i mess around switching back and forth to the laptop display but its out of scale and no end of messing will correct it.
What i have noticed the monitor drivers wont update to the Vestel drivers of the TV like they did in 8.1.
I haven't got another monitor to try here either.
Its ludicrous that 10 can not function properly when it could in 8.1.

  8. Windows 10 Install : Monitor out of range

I have maybe the same problem:

My computer have a 4k card and 16 GB of RAM in Windows 10 system.

I work almost one week perfectly connected and running in 4k mode connected with and HDMI 1.3 or 1.4 cable to my LG Monitor 49 inches 4k.

All was happines, but three days ago, all becomes to fail when something updates Windows 10, then the message is the same at boot:

    "out of sync"

I have connected to a old HDMI 2k Westinghouse FHD monitor 1920 x 1200, but is the same:

"out of sync" or "out of rage" the exact message depends on the BIOS o Chipset inside the monitor

My error was not to set the "Windows Remote Desktop", or "LogME In", or "teamviewer", or something remote access software in order to get inside of the OS by the Network and interact with the Windows Monitor Configuration Panel in order to reset to defaults or something other.

As some ones has commented: Click F8 doesnt work.

How can get similar behaviour to F8 Safe Mode at boot time in Windows 10? something knows the trick?

I currently will check with another HDMI cable (but for 4k correct functioning ill need to buy right now).

    Thanks for sugesstions.

  9. F8 mode same problem, out of range even in low res mode.
Only cure is reset operating system to default micrsoft display driver.
I was going to try Teamviewer next to try change settings via that.
To get F8 you need the recovery options on the screen and use command to change it to legacy start up.info on google

  10. So Teamviewer was the only solution..
Install this before any updates, full access from log in screen, install its monitor drivers in advanced settings. (TV11)
Make sure it's 100% working from log in screen.
You can choose own resolution of teamviwer to override the nightmare updated graphic drivers to get you to the graphic drivers control pannel and set your screen resolution back down to normal land.
The graphic driver updates automatically set to what it thinks it can get away with at the higest level which is a joke,it should automatically set to the lowest and let you choose and test. Even prevents F8 safe video low mode.
    Truly retarded .
Lot of tweaking after that and of course gbs of endless updates from Windows 10.
    Tiresome operating system already.
And we can already see the direction its going.
    NSA.

I wrestled with this problem for a long time. Couldn't boot in safe mode because F8 didn't work for windows 10 no matter how furiously I pressed it during the initial stages of Windows 10's doomed load. Finally decided I would give a new video card a try. Bought a $50 video card that claimed to be Windows 10 compatible on the box. Replaced my old card with the new one and no longer got the "out of range" error. Everything now works fine.

    F8 doesn't work on 10. It didn't work on Windows 8, either.

Windows 10 Install : Monitor out of range

Yes, it sure didn't work for me. Read one post said it works if you try a lot, but I tried really hard and no dice. I also tried just swiching to a different monitor with a much wider aspect ratio, but it still had an out of range error.

Another suggestion was to reinstall Windows 10, but this wasn't an option for me because I didn't have a Windows 10 disc. (I had upgraded online.)

If anyone out there has this same problem, I think getting a modern Windows 10 compatible video card is the solution. It was easy to replace the old card. Was aftaid that I would encounter some lame incompatibility issues, but none occurred. Worked like a charm.

That's super cool, but it requires running a command prompt in Windows 10. When you have this Out of Range error, you're completely unable to do anything, or more precisely, see anything in Windows 10.
